It's football preview podcast time! Three guests join us today: - IUSTV Sports Director Auston Matricardi gives his perspective on IU's recent exploits - GopherIllustrated's Ryan Burns gives us the lowdown on Minnesota's rapidly spiraling season - The Herald Times's Mike Miller analyzes some of the positives and negatives of what IU's done so far, where they are at compared to his preseason expectations, and what we might expect from the game this weekend.

Scott chats with Jerod Morris of Assembly Call and Podcast on the Brink.  They discuss how excited the fan base is for this upcoming basketball season.  What players have shown the most development, and which ones need to show the most development.  Which player could be the key to the season, yet is the forgotten man when looking at this new roster.     What are the ceiling expectations for this team, and what would really disappoint you?     Finally they provide some predictions for this year and look at how it could be similar to some seasons we have seen in the past.  

We delve into the post-mortem of the Penn State loss, and talk about the major elements that came out of that game. The rushing attack looked quite good, which brought up many questions about why it's been so inconsistent all year. Freshman QB Michael Penix looked quite good, which brought up many questions of its own. IU struggled with self-inflicted wounds and mistakes which seemed to spike any chance at victory, which unfortunately is not a new problem for the program. Galen and Scott welcome longtime friend of the pod Evan Frederick to chat about the challenges IU faces in this contest, the offensive and defensive keys to the game, and the mental hurdles that Indiana consistently struggles to leap. The Hoosiers had more success than many anticipated against Ohio State, so we had a bunch of interesting things to talk about on today's recap podcast. The vertical passing game played a huge part in IU's offense on Saturday --- where has that been all season, and will it stick around for the rest of the season? We talk about the implications of the playcalling, the performance of Nick Wesbrook, and whether or not there's been any clarity added to the skill positions. We also discuss the defensive performance, and whether IU can buck their historical trends and translate their effort in Columbus into victories in the upcoming weeks.

It's time for the Ohio State preview podcast, but first we look back at the analysis relating to the Rutgers game and talk about whether that game looks better or worse in hindsight. We do a deep dive into offensive success and statistical profiles, and evaluate where the problems are coming from with the offense and whether it's fixable. We also sneak in a couple of questions from the Twitter crowd. We then check in with Ben Portnoy of The Hoosier Network (55:12) to talk about IU's defensive performance so far this year, which part of the defense is the key for Indiana to have success against Ohio State, and what "success" might look like against the Buckeyes. Finally, we take a trio of questions related to men's basketball (1:04:30) and evaluate some aspects of the roster, recruiting, and defense.

We're back for a dual-topic podcast this week. First, we evaluate the IU - Rutgers game, talk about the good things, but also talk about the longer-term concerns that continue to crop up for this football team and which manifested in the second half of the game.
