SHTF Bug Out Locations | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

If you are thinking of terrorist attacks or some other kind of meltdown in the system when cities are just not going to be able to cope, then you may be in your Bug Out Location for an extended period of time. Maybe your Bug Out Location is just your place to get comfortable with nature over weekend and holidays – so you are going to need to make it more “livable” rather than an emergency escape. Bugging out could potentially be something we all need to do, and picking a good bug out location requires thought and planning. As you begin our planning for a perfect bug out location there are a number of different factors to keep in mind like distance, location, finances, accessibility and many more. If you’re purchasing a piece of property to serve as a bug out location, then you really need to consider how far that property is from your current home. Unless you have a good refueling plan, you need to really think about any piece of property that you can’t make it to on a single tank of gas. While having a bug out location far from the danger zone is important, making sure you can safely get there during a time of crisis is essential. On this show we hope to help you pick a location that works for you and your group.  What’s in your SHTF library? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

This week on the “The Prepping Academy Join Forrest and Tenderfoot will hit the bookshelves and pick their favorite prepping and survival books. In any crisis situation, you will be hard-pressed finding the information you and your family needs to make it. There will be no Internet. There will be no phone service. It will literally come down to what you have within arm’s reach that will help you get through the chaos of Marshall law, having no power for days, weeks, or months, and being able to make it through natural disasters like hurricanes or similar events. Be prepared… always! Keeping a stash of survival books on hand is of vital importance to helping you get through the tough time. The world is becoming more uncertain each day. Natural disasters, economic collapse, and terrorism are phrases that have become familiar to every news cycle in every part of the country. But preppers are aware of the danger and know that fully preparing for any of type of disaster could mean the difference between life and death. Not everyone’s a Navy Seal or an Eagle Scout. So for those who haven’t received hands-on training in survival skills, studying a quality survival manual is your next best option. Whether you have a full library of self-preservation books, or you are looking to buy your first survival guide, Forrest and Tenderfoot will discuss some of their favorite books of all time.  Back To Basics – Basic Preparedness. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

This week on the “The Prepping Academy” Forrest and Tenderfoot are going to be discussing getting back to preparedness basics. What are you getting prepared for? What skills do you need? What do you need to purchase? Over the past few years Disaster Preparedness (‘prepping’) has become a popular topic. A very large mix of people have begun preaching prepping, all having different motives for promoting their particular views on ‘how to prepare’, which makes it very difficult and confusing for people who are trying to figure-out what to do. Because of this, some people end up doing the wrong things for the right reasons; they simply want to protect their families and friends. And in other cases, as a result of a lack of continuity in advice, some people do nothing at all, which may be just as bad. Disaster preparedness is really about risk analysis; what good is a box of guns and ammo when you actually needed a boat during a flood, because you lived in a flood-prone area? Or what good is gallon jar of peanut butter when you bought only one slice of bread? How is a bug out location going to help you when you lose your job and can’t pay the bills? Too many people today have just that problem; too much of the wrong thing and not enough to the right thing. We hope to help you think through your preparedness plan and help you refocus on the important things.  No skills when SHTF, what’s your worth? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

This week on the “The Prepping Academy” Forrest and Tenderfoot are going to be discussing if you have not skills during a SHTF scenario you are worthless to others. This will be hard for some to take but it’s true. Preppers have a bad reputation for hoarding gear, stocking up on a year’s-worth (or more) of food, and packing bug out bags that could supply a platoon. In almost all cases, these preppers would be screwed if there were a disaster or SHTF. Gear and supplies are useless unless you still have it when you need it, and know how to use them. The precept of knowledge weighing nothing has been a long-term idea in my thinking. I love learning how to do things and how to adapt my surroundings by adapting what I have available for new purposes. Also, if something like a regional disaster hits your area, you may be surviving with only what you have on you at that moment and all that stuff you collected will be useless. So Knowledge and Skills are King. Skills won’t run out, and in a prolonged emergency that makes them far more valuable for trade than anything else. You don’t have to be an expert at every survival skill to survive a disaster–very few people have mastered all the skills. However, there are a handful of skills that everyone will need in a true SHTF scenario, especially if they’re on their own.  Prepping on a Budget! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:57:00

This week on the “The Prepping Academy” Forrest and Tenderfoot are going to be discussing one of the most talked about subjects in prepping, Prepping on a Budget. This subject has been on every blog and podcast out there. On this show we hope to share with you a whole knew thinking strategy with it comes to buying your prepping supplies. Being a prepper is all about setting priorities and being responsible. If you’ve been on any survival forums or watched doomsday prepping shows on television, you’ve likely seen individuals that have committed an enormous amount of their time and money into preparing for TEOTWAWKI. Prepping can be an expensive project. Many preppers buy a few things here and there as they can afford to, all the while feeling like they’ll never have enough food, water, emergency supplies, and gear to meet their family need. How do you prepare for long-term shortages when you have trouble making ends meet while ‘times are good?’ We have found several ways to get many of your preps for little or no money. We are pretty sure no matter your situation you can use one or more of these ideas to help you save money on your own gear and supplies. One of the keys to prepping on a budget is going slow. Whenever you have extra money, invest a little bit into your prepping. Eventually you will have a fully stocked storage room full of all the essential gear you need to survive a fully blown SHTF situation.  How to know when it is time to bug out! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:58:00

This week on the “The Prepping Academy” Forrest and Tenderfoot are going to be discussing one of the most important and difficult questions to answer, “How to know when it is time to bug out?” I know many people, would feel the urge to stay home and protect their property. But you need to weigh the choice of staying versus the risk to your life and health. For some folks, the risks to their safety out weights the danger they could very well face by staying and trying to protect their property. The latest hurricanes have people rethink the stay and protect their property vs. their safety. Bugging out to soon can be a waste of time and resource’s. Bugging out and having to return days later can and will put stress on family members and survival groups and could cause others to question each time events warrant a real bug out situation. Everyone wants to make the right decision and the proper planning should help everyone understand the go or no go decision. As I have stated many times I believe the final decision should be in the hands of one person with a team of advisors around them. This will be a judgment call on your part or your team leader and only time will tell if the judgment call was a good one or not. I would always lean to leave to early than stay until it’s to late.  Prepper Camp 2017 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:00

Prepper Camp 2017 Join Forrest and Tenderfoot this Monday night as they recap Prepper Camp 2017.  Prepper Camp is the largest out door national event for preppers held in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It takes place at Orchard Lake Campground located in Saluda, North Carolina. The campground venue allows preppers to experience preparedness information, survival skills, and camp-craft activities like no other preparedness conference. You may remember Survivor Jane as being our very first guest on air. Events like these are few and far between around the USA. These folks don’t make a great amount of money off these events and they do a tremendously great job of emulating what prepping is truly about being prepared and helping others. As a long time prepper I can tell you first hand events like this are essential to our community. Forrest and Tenderfoot will be sharing their experience, discussing the classes, speakers and their networking opportunities.  Prepper Camp had some excellent speakers and just like last year many will be joining us on the Prepping Academy in the weeks to come. The Carolina Preppers Network (CPN) also had their annual meeting on September 15, Friday night at prepper camp.  Forrest and Tenderfoot will share about the CPN annual meeting with all the ins and outs of what’s going on with CPN and it’s future plans.  They will also discuss their experience meeting hundreds of CPN’ers for the first time.  Traveling as a Prepper | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:00

On this Prepping Academy Radio show we will discuss all things traveling as a prepper. One of the most dangerous things you can do in life is travel. A good prepper does not only accumulate goods, but also knowledge. When traveling, you retain your knowledge but what goods can you take with you. What goods can you acquire while at your destination. This balance of knowledge and goods is what this show is about. Join us! You need to prepare your luggage and travel appropriately. As a business professional, it is not advisable for me to walk into a Fortune 500 conference room with a full camo military issue pack, bugout bag and my Glock 19 on my side. At the same time wearing my top designer suit and snakeskin dress shoes will not be the best clothes to bug back home. You must strike a carefully planned balance. Where are you going? How are you traveling there? What supplies do you need? What supplies can you take? What can you acquire at your destination? We will talk in great detail all these things. Self-defense skills are very helpful when traveling, as carry a gun is often not an option. You need two sets of skills. First, the skill of avoiding conflict, and second, the self-defense training to protect yourself when violent conflict is unavoidable. Have you ever heard of Verbal Judo? If not now you have. Look it up and learn it. It’s as viable as physical self-defense. Situational Awareness is so important while traveling. You have to stay alert while traveling because dangerous situation can unfold quickly and unexpectedly and you are not on your home turf. So join us LIVE on Monday Nights at prepperbroadcasting.com at 9PM EST. Also, stop by our website at preppingacademy.com

Hurricanes can affect everyone and no matter where you live there are things you can do to prepare for the next big one. For those that live in the areas that are prone to hurricanes and tropical storms, planning and preparedness is a necessity. Planning and getting prepared will look different to each individual and family but there will be some basics that will apply to everyone. We will talk about the basics but this show will be more about planning to thrive during a hurricane not just survive. Of course we will talk about the many “check-list” you can find on the net but we will go a few steps into the advance planning as well. Check out the Red Cross and Ready.gov for a lot of great information and check list. So… You don’t live in a hurricane prone area? Hurricanes can still have a big impact on you and your family, job and church. We will discuss how to plan for your family, neighbors and possible family members in the ground zero of an on coming hurricane. Supplies are always good but most of the time knowledge is better. We will look back on a few big hurricanes and discuss how knowledge could have changed many outcomes in individual’s life. Have you ever tried to contact family and friends in a disaster area? You might think it’s impossible and sometimes it is but we will cover how to improve you chances to connect with them. We will also help you put together a communication plan for when disasters knock at your door.
