The Buzby Dog Podcast

Summary: Welcome to the Buzby Dog Podcast! In this podcast it is our goal to help you discover how to “Buzby” your dog so that they can live the longest, healthiest life possible. My clients are their dog’s advocates—their champions. They are never complacent, never sitting on the sidelines when they recognize a need they could impact by taking action. My passion is to share this “Buzby” mentality when it comes to being a pet parent. I want to empower you to work in partnership with your veterinarian. The reality is that your veterinarian only sees your dog a few hours a year, while you spend as many hours a day together as possible. Our dogs are such an integral part of our family. I want to use this podcast to help empower and encourage you so that when you lay your head on your pillow at night (probably right next to your dog’s), you can rest easy knowing you are doing everything you can to give your dog the best life possible. So welcome! And thanks for listening! Our goal is to build a community of pet parents who “Buzby” their dogs or want to know more about how to care for their dogs in a proactive way. I believe in the power of Buzby Dog Owners. You can do this; we can help!

BDP 002: Ten Touches That Could Save Your Dog’s Life | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:29:01

In this episode, I will teach you how to do a weekly, 5-minute scan at home that will help you understand your dog on a whole new level. This scan is a hybrid of a petting your dog and a pattern of scanning his/her body in a repeatable way. Petting meets pattern so I’ve dubbed it THE PETTERN. By practicing this simple, hands-on PETTERN repeatedly over time, I hope you will develop a better relationship with your veterinarian and become more informed about your dog’s health. Every day veterinarians leverage knowledge, skill, and experience to detect abnormalities, put together the pieces to make a diagnosis, and then formulate the optimal treatment plan. My goal is not to replace your vet. The practice act for every state in the United States says that diagnosis and treatment can only be done by licensed veterinarians. I don’t want you to diagnose anything; I just want you to be observant and proactive in watching for changes. This will empower you to embrace your roll as your dog’s first line of defense so that you can work with your veterinarian to fast track diagnosis and treatment. Just like human medicine, early detection is key to successful outcomes in most cases. Always remember that you are your dog's voice. You are your dog's advocate. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to help equip you for that role.
