:29 St Louis Snus Con update. 20-25 people gathered in St Louis to discuss snus and tobacco harm reduction. First speaker was Brad Rodu. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdpj7gDGbD0&index=5&list=PLhumHnqM4C7t16o7b3F3SJwPVbiAwg9Dr Dr Rodu's blog is a must read. http://rodutobaccotruth.blogspot.com/ 3:48 Lars Renquist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JIa3TYH1Ro&index=1&list=PLhumHnqM4C7t16o7b3F3SJwPVbiAwg9Dr 4:36 Swedish Match's MRTP application. That's being able to market your product as a modified risk product. 5:31 How hard it is to get this to market as a modified risk product. There is no clear path showing you how to do it and only Swedish Match has been able to accomplish that. 6:17 No real answer to the question of whether the MRTP application was supposed to be a Substantial Equivalence Application. But that rumor which has been floating around for a bit was acknowledged. This of course is a political decision but this is in the agency's best interest politically to approve one because they had never done so before. 8:01 Alex Clark and Brian Carter of CASAA spoke. No record of that is on You Tube as there was a lack of space on the sd card. There should be an interview with Chad jones and Alex and Brian sometime soon. 8:30 Larry Waters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-_s_5ZUVSE&index=2&list=PLhumHnqM4C7t16o7b3F3SJwPVbiAwg9Dr 9:10 Brian Carter's piece on Snus Con http://casaa.org/news/there-was-a-snus-convention-in-st-louis/ 9:33 Brian Carter put together our Trifold documment on smokeless tobacco which you can get here. :27 Live from St Louis 1:39 Citizen's Petition:http://casaa.org/call-to-action/delay-the-fda-comment-on-the-citizen-petition-today You may ask what that is An FDA citizen petition is a process provided by the United States Food and Drug Administration for individuals and community organizations to make requests to the FDA for changes to health policy. It is described in Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations. 3:38 fdadelay.org http://casaa.org/call-to-action/help-us-send-letters-to-hhs-sec-tom-price/ This is a call to send letters to HHS secretary Price asking him to delay implementation of federal regulations. 3:55 Both of these actions are a tandem sort of thing. 4:17 The ask in the petition is final guidance for submitting a PMTA and a 24 month delay after final rulemaking for implementation. Submitting is a very in the dark sort of thing, since no one knows how or what to submit this, there is no checklist. No one knows how or what to do this and our manufacturers need help to understand this so that the time and expense involved in not in vain. 7:00 FDA Deeming commenting period closed in 2014 but a citizen's petition allows people to comment beyond that time. 7:37 CASAA has pre written something but we urge you to share your story and think about what deeming will do to us all and tell them that as well. 9:10 Question on who can comment.IE are people from other countries allowed to comment as well. 10:35 On submitting longer comments 11:28 Period for comment open until November 8;this is also the PMTA deadline. 12:50 Donation from His gift to us foundation. http://nonprofits.findthecompany.com/l/4618887/His-Gift-to-US-Foundation-Inc 14:27 Maryland licensing bill HB 523 Update. 17:51 San Francisco flavor ban 23:40 Vapor and snus the similarities 26:50 Snus as a discrete form of harm reduction. 30:00 Snus Con Alex Clark to speak from CASAA. 31:11 Snus and people who are offended . 34:37 Linda Rosenthal and how she seems to feel about the scent of baked goods. 38:35 Snus con speakers schedule 43:01 Keep speaking to your Senators in New York State on tobacco 21 and indoor use ban. 43:50 A listing of where to get CASAA updates 1 here http://casaa.org/ 2 here @casaa-media 3 here itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/casaa…dia/id1190244806

1:29 California flavor bans 1:51 Contra Costa County 2:00 Los Gatos May 16 Ordinance passed has exemption for shops deriving 60% or more of their revenue from tobacco. Not bad for vape shops but pulls them out of gas stations and convenience stores. 3:20 Oakland 3:36 Palo Alto California 3:41 Palo Alto and Oakland have the same exemption that Los Gatos has. 3:55 San Leandro Possible hearing June 5. City attorney looking into possible ways to enforce. 4:29 San Francisco the largest and worst. This even goes after menthol products. 4:49 A bit on legislation and how many commissions legislation has to go through before it becomes a law. 5:40 This legislation goes before the public safety and neighborhoods committee. 6:02 San Francisco has 5 vapor shops serving 8 hundred thousand people. 6:16 A bit on vulnerable communities and higher smoking rates. 7:00 Flavor ban legislation being promoted as protecting those communities. 7:20 San Francisco had an existing definition of tobacco products that included vapor products before this legislation was even proposed. http://casaa.org/call-to-action/san-francisco-ca-stop-the-flavor-ban/ 7:50 Gateway myth. 8:00 Removal of menthol. 10:01 These policies put these communities at a disadvantage. 11:01 San Francisco's participation has been very low historically so it's harder to fight this sort of legislation. 14:45 A personal anecdote about nurses and doctors especially doctors who do their homework and nurses who may be misinformed. 17:04 Tobacco 21 legislation in Florida did not pass. 17:34 New York http://casaa.org/call-to-action/ny-help-us-stop-two-bills-that-would-restrict-access-to-and-use-of-vapor-products/ These bills passed the assembly with very little resistance. There is a lot of pressure on the senate to move the house bills. In New York as your senators to oppose an indoor use ban and oppose the tobacco 21 legislation. 22:37 In years past the Senate has been reluctant to move these bills forward. 23:10 How close Cole/Bishop was to being included in the budget. 26:06 With Cole/Bishop out of play until September possibly our next substantive legislative steps. 26:19 Legislative delay. 27:58 Next six months critical for vapor retailers and manufacturers. This is also critical for the wide variety of products available to consumers. 29:03 Urge lawmakers to co-sponsorHR 1136 https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/1136 29:40 More aggressive local tobacco control legislative issues will occur. 30:06 How can we help with getting people engaged locally? New York :Most focused on other tobacco products but some could affect vapers in their home and some could affect retailers as well. 4 ordinances CASAA would have opposition about or specific concerns Intro 1532 this sets a licensing cap on vaping retailers. This bill would make it both harder to sell a business so even if an owner can find a better place to locate their business the license is only good for this single location. 8:01 Alex was there to testify about the dangers of limiting vaping shops for smoker's health.
