On this episode of the SLC Punks Podcast we talk about the following issues facing the Utah Jazz after the Rudy Gobert injury... With Rudy Gobert out for 4-6 weeks, what is the immediate impact? Who will step up for the Jazz in the absence of three rotation players being out. Why the offense will actually improve with this injury. What are the silver linings of the Gobert injury and what can Jazz fans be excited about?

On this week’s episode of the SLC Punks Podcast: Donovan Mitchell was amazing against the Lakers and Lonzo Ball and proving he’ll be a star for years to come. Joe Ingles needs to stop passing up open shots and shoot the ball more because he’s the best shooter of all time. We look at week 2 and how well the Jazz played. Hint: Not great. Turnovers are becoming a serious problem, how can that get better? Currently the Jazz have one of the league’s worst offenses. Is there a silver lining? There’s a free throw shooting problem with the Jazz. Is it officiating or is it a personnel issue? What do the Jazz do now and can they make the playoffs?

On this week’s episode we discuss Earl Watson being let go by the Phoenix Suns. The Utah Jazz are really good and have the 15th best offense in the league. Some of the surprises this year include Joe Ingles, Alec Burks and Epke Udoh. The only let down this season would be the Rodney Hood injury. The Utah Jazz second unit is going to win a lot of games this season.

How likely is he to be a Jazzman long term and is he a small forward? It’ll be interesting to see how the Jazz get Donovan Mitchell on the floor with the extension going on. Finally we discuss Dante Exum, what happens with his shoulder, and what the Jazz should do with his next contract.

Being the middle of August, it’s time for us to talk about the one thing we know needs to change to improve the NBA, Conferences! On this episode of SLC Punks we discuss what consequences the lopsided Easter and Western NBA conferences have had on the Utah Jazz and, if Adam Silver wanted to change that, what would it take. We discuss whether Gordon Hayward would have stayed if there were no conferences and what things will be like for him in Boston with a much tougher media.
