Podcasts:
We heard from Pete Carroll at The Combine, and we continue ot get Hugh Millen's reaction, from the future at center, to Tre Flowers, and more. Petros Papadakis discusses the Kobe Bryant memorial, the first ever matchup between LeBron and Zion, Seahawks fans' frustration with Pete Carroll, and Carroll's authenticity. Textimonials weigh in on the first two hours of the show at 49451.
Hugh Millen has plenty of experience being a part of collective bargaining agreements between the NFLPA and the owner. He tells some of the stories from his days representing players, and explains what's happening right now. Players at the top, the ones making the most money, seem to be against the deal while the rest of the players are more in favor. What's creating the divide? Brad Evans explains his new role as Sounders brand ambassador, the importance of the CONCACAF Champions League match, and what's different this season.
With Softy still in Europe, Hugh Millen is co-hosting with Dick for the remainder of the week. Hugh watched Kobe's memorial yesterday. As a huge basketball fan, and as someone with strong feelings about Kobe, we get his reaction. John Schneider spoke for the first time during this offseason today at he Combine. We play most of that audio back. Hugh weighs in on the signing of Greg Olsen and the Hawks at the tight end position.
Rashaad Penny may not be ready to come back once the 2020 season gets started. What is the Seahawks plan for the running back position? Teams seem to have Jacob Eason all over the place on their draft boards, s where is he likely to go and why is so hard for teams to evaluate quarterbacks. We ask The Mercury News' Jon Wilner. Textimonials react to the first two hours of the show at 49451.
Jacob Eason spoke today. What kind of legacy did he leave at Washington? When will we know whether or not Jerry Dipoto's rebuild worked? We ask The Athletic's Corey Brock. Does size matter? Joe Burrow apparently has small hands. Will that hurt him in the NFL? How will his skills translate to the pro league?
Jacson Bevens is co-hosting with Dick Fain as Softy is out for one more week. Dick wasn't expecting to watch much of Kobe's celebration of life today, but got sucked in. This has been a huge story across the NBA, and certainly in Southern California, but how much did the event resonate with the Northwest sports fan? It's time to start looking at free agents; who are the Hawks bringing back, and who are they bringing in?
We're joined by Mina Kimes of ESPn discussing the latest on the CBA. What happens if a deal isn't done? Mina is also a huge Hawks fan, so we dive into free agency and other Seahawk topics with her. Should the Hawks bring Clowney back? George Karl has a new podcast Truth + Basketball. He talks about the new venture, plus his thoughts on super teams, drafting younger players, and everything else happening in the NBA. Textimonials react to the show at 49451.
In case you missed it from earlier today, some emotional moments from Kobe Bryant's Celebration of Life as Vanessa Bryant spoke, followed by Michael Jordan. The Dawgs finally broke loose against Cal on Saturday. What finally clicked? We have our weekly conversation with Donald Watts. WIAA Executive Director Mick Hoffman updates us on everything happening with high school sports across the state.
Donald Watts steps in to co-host with Dick Fain as Softy is still traveling around the world. It's another great day to have him in as we can discuss a not-so-great Husky basketball team that lost yet again last night. How can a team with this much talent only have two conference wins this late in the season? What is this team missing? It looked like the CBA might be close to a done deal, but some outspoken players are coming out against it. How close are we do a deal, and what happens if it isn't done by the new league year? We find out from the NFL Network's Jim Trotter.
In case you missed it yesterday, Mallex Smith joined Chuck, Buck, Puck, and Slick and he pretty much completely took over the radio station. Whether he'll have a good season or not, guys like that make this team fun to root for. Fridays at 4:20, it's Fun with Audio; all of the best sound bytes from around sports. This week, Kevin Garnett talking about Gary Payton, Frank Caliendo as Bill Walton talking to Bill Walton, and more sign-stealing reaction. Textimonials react to the first two hours of the show at 49451.
Matt McKay of Basketball Travelers co-hosts a podcast with Donald Watts. He joins the show to talk NBA recruiting. How will Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels translate to the pro level? It's obviously been a frustrating season for the Dawgs, but are you as a Husky fan in panic mode? There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic long term. On Stats are for Losers, some college basketball stats you probably weren't aware of, including an incredible run by some mid majors, and the biggest loss ever by Coach K.
Softy is still out. Jacson Bevens is co-hosting this afternoon. The NFL will be expanding its playoff format to include a seventh team per conference. More football is a good thing, but there will be times when mediocre teams get in.There have been plenty of examples in recent years where 8-8 teams that didn't look all that spectacular would have made the 7th spot. The Astros saga just won't go away, and it probably won't anytime soon. The latest: Big Papi has now called Mike Fiers a snitch for saying something about the sign-stealing procedure. No one is a fan of someone ratting out heir buddies for some small thing, but this is a big deal that has angered a lot of players. How many Astros are getting hit by pitches this year? No one wants to see anyone end up in the hospital, but a little retribution is likely. It's certainly going to get people to tune in when the Astros are on TV.
Evan White, Mariners prospect, and presumptive starting first-baseman this season talks about his new deal with the team. How did a long-term deal get done before he's ever spent time in the Majors? Mike DeCourcy of The Sporting News covers all things college basketball, from the UW's chances at a Pac-12 tournament run, to under the radar teams to watch for n the tournament. Textimonials react to the first two hours of the show.
Chuck Powell checks in from Peoria to tell us everything happening at Spring Training. He explains why he supports the Mariners rebuild. Mike Hopkins talks about everything happening with the Huskies before tonight's game. JJ Watt has already weighed in on the proposed CBA, and he's not a fan.
The sun is shining, so we figured we would cut out early today (also we've got a college basketball game airing at 4). Dick asks, if you could fire one commissioner, who would it be? Given this audience, and this part of the country, the answer might not be too surprising. We've been on board for the Mariners rebuild, and step one, tearing the whole thing down and filling up the farm system, has been a success. Now it's time to find out which of these prospects can play, and signing the big names to fill the gaps when needed. Is it guaranteed to work? No, but so far we're on the right track. Petros Papadakis joins Dick to talk all things sports, plus ouzo... Bucky Jacobsen shares his thoughts on the interview with John Stanton earlier this morning.
