This week Lori Lynn and I explore a topic we’ve touched on before, the realization that you’re trying to be a different kind of mom than you need to be. Or maybe you thought you’d be one kind of mother and it turns out you or your kids or your family situation requires you to be a totally different kind of mother. We’ve been there and we’re here today chatting about it.
This week our guest is Carrie Vipperman, a wife and mom who had the unusual experience of giving birth while living overseas. We chat about her prenatal care, traveling to give birth, and her experience transitioning into motherhood while living in a different culture.
This week Lori Lynn and I are sharing more about our personal history with perinatal mood disorders including prenatal depression, postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety. So without further ado, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about what happens when you’re happy you are pregnant and also depressed, the week from hell that helped me understand what was going on in my head, and why we both wish we had gotten a therapist years before we did.

This week Lori Lynn and I sat down to talk about starting solids with our kids. We’ve had a variety of experiences so we share about different approaches and problems that we had. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about discovering food allergies, funny moments with our kids as they explored food, and the reason I cried when I first gave Elijah solids.

This week we are welcoming back one of our most popular previous guests, Cara Hartoon. Cara is a doctor of physical therapy specializing in women’s health and the pelvic floor. She is also my personal pelvic floor physical therapist. Cara treats women for painful intercourse which is a common problem for postpartum women. So we talked about the causes of sex pain, how she treats patients, sexual positions that can help and all sorts of other sex-related topics like arousal and birth control.
This week my guest is Sally Mitzner. Sally wanted to come on the podcast to talk about her experiences with postpartum depression and anxiety. Sally’s candor is refreshing and her sense of humor is infectious and I know you will enjoy listening to this interview. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk an unfortunate coincidence involving Downton Abbey, the devastating reality of not being in control of your bladder, and the ups and downs of finding a treatment plan that works.
