Episode 15: Is Your Diet Worth Getting Stressed About? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:48

Thanks for joining us for episode 15 of The Ancestral RD podcast! If you want to keep up with our podcasts, subscribe in iTunes and never miss an episode! Today we're talking about one of our favorite topics: stress and restrictive diets. Laura and Kelsey both work with clients all the time that are doing more harm than good to their health by trying to eat the "perfect" diet, and we're hoping that this podcast episode will inspire you to re-evaluate your current dietary approach and determine if you need to be less restrictive or reintroduce new foods that you've been avoiding. We could talk about this topic forever, but we want to hear from YOU! So leave your comments below and share your story! Remember, if you'd like to submit a question for our new podcast, or suggest a guest that we should host, CLICK HERE. Here's what Laura and Kelsey will be discussing in this episode: Paleo is very restrictive and if you start listening to all the experts like Chris Kresser etc you really risk to go nuts unless you live a life with lots of free time to make everything on your own and to not just eat salads every day. I have been trying to follow advice on what is "right" and "bad" , making lots of homemade food, paying attention to this and that, but that's not always possible for normal people with an 8hr job and a family. I believe the risk is to get stressed out like I did and in the end we know that stress is part of the "bad" list. So how important is finding balance in your life, even incorporating some of the bad's in order to reduce stress from your life?  Episode 5: Curing SIBO with Adrenal Fatigue and Whether to Eliminate Nightshades | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:37

Thanks for joining us for our fifth episode of The Ancestral RD podcast! If you want to keep up with our podcasts, subscribe in iTunes and never miss an episode! We talked about treating SIBO last week, and this week Kelsey addresses some common issues that come up when trying to treat SIBO and another condition like Adrenal Fatigue at the same time. Laura will be discussing nightshades and how to determine if they're worth eliminating in your diet. Remember, if you'd like to submit a question for our new podcast, or suggest a guest that we should host, CLICK HERE. Here's what Laura and Kelsey will be discussing in this episode: I have SIBO, adrenal fatigue and a bunch of other issues. I'm eating low FODMAP. Apparently with SIBO it's important to avoid starchy vegetables and fruit. But with adrenal fatigue, I end up in trouble if I don't have enough carbs each day. Adding to the confusion, I've seen articles that encourage people to increase their intake of starchy vegetables if suffering from constipation (which is my main symptom of SIBO). I really have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. Should I EAT or AVOID starchy vegetables and fruit? And if I'm avoiding, then what on earth do I eat for carbohydrates? How will I know whether or not I need to eliminate nightshades? (28:09) DOWNLOAD TRANSCRIPT Links Discussed: SIBO and Carbohydrate Intake - quote from this article "Dr. Pimentel’s theory in regard to diet during antibiotic treatment is to NOT be on a low fermentable carb diet while using antibiotics as the microbes go in a hibernation phase and are less likely to be eradicated."  Episode 3: Choosing a Prebiotic and Grains Recommended During Pregnancy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:24

Thanks for joining us for our third episode of The Ancestral RD podcast!  We've got a lot of great questions to choose from so thanks for submitting them! If you want to keep up with our podcasts, subscribe in iTunes and never miss an episode! Remember, if you'd like to submit a question for our new podcast, or suggest a guest that we should host, CLICK HERE. Here's what Laura and Kelsey will be discussing in this episode: My question is on prebiotics and soluble fiber. I often hear Acacia fiber recommended for gut health as it can feed good bacteria. But doesnt this also feed bad bacteria too? I have noticed prebiotics being sold in the store but I just dont get how it can help if its also promoting bad bacteria growth. I thought any kind of soluble fibre/prebiotic will help both the good and bad. And if we have Bad bacteria overgrowth, don’t we want to reduce it by starving them off? I have problems with grains, and have been doing well on the GAPS diet. However, I'm also pregnant, and most recommendations for pregnant women include several servings of grains. Should I avoid or include grains during pregnancy? Remember, if you'd like to submit a question for our new podcast, or suggest a guest that we should host, CLICK HERE. Here's what Laura and Kelsey will be discussing in this episode: Due to crazy GI distress from paleo, is there any reason a plant-based, carb heavy diet might be unhealthy long term? Can leaky gut really be healed without expensive supplements? Seems a lot of health issues track back to that, and hope would be appreciated... Here's what Laura and Kelsey will be discussing in this episode: 1. I’ve eaten sweet potatoes twice now and both times I’ve reacted poorly. My gut feels irritated and I go to the bathroom shortly afterwards. Any idea why this might be happening? I can tolerate regular potatoes with no problem. 2. Do I need to take a multivitamin? Are they healthy or harmful? Links Discussed Kelsey's FODMAP Chart Chris Kresser: The little known difference between folate and folic acid
