Ex F1 Boss Matthew Carter joins Spanners and Trumpets for another walk on the wild side of F1. They discuss what teams REALLY focus on in testing, whether glory laps are real and what chances the teams realistically have this season, in brutal, but entertaining terms. Also, Carter spills the beans as to the REAL cause of Renault engine woes at the start of the hybrid era and dissects the reasons why certain teams run far less than others in testing (Hint: It’s not always the PU, sometimes it’s a word that rhymes with money).  Finally, F1 TV, new race locations, and naturally the eponymous Carter directive somehow manage to make our docket, as if we weren’t busy enough!

Missed Apex goes chill for this laid back episode. Spanners is joined by Chris Stevens, Ryan Ferris and Nick Alexander to answer the questions of quiz master Catman and those from our audience.

Spanners and Trumpets get a tour of the paddock led by none other than Fake Charlie Whiting (Mark McArdle). From Race Control to the Medical Car, to inadvertently whacking Michael Schumacher, Mark gives a behind the scenes look to the starry eyed duo, as well as the benefit of his opinions on a variety of current F1 subjects. And Spanners completely spanked Stevens in karting (Spanners totally didn’t write this sentence).

After an extended vacation, a brand new year sees Spanners, with Trumpets and Sparkles, immediately gets down to business by being told he is wrong about the career of Kubica. Wasting no time, he then schools Sparkles over pay drivers and in a fit of kitchen sinkism, they then discuss some interviews with the likes of Chase Carey and Paddy Lowe, before actually remembering Comment of the Week.

Ace Driver and Nordschleife expert Bradley Philpot takes Trumpets on an amazing journey through the intricate and complicated world of car set up both in sims and in real life. Sadly, Spanners had to miss the recording as his house was a bit on fire (don't panic, everyone and everything was safe and Spanners and family are fine) so Trumpets was left to muddle through in his usual, exceedingly verbose fashion. Not even a 14 hour workday, or alcohol laced trip to Sweden would deter Brad, however, so have a listen as he teaches Trumpets a lesson or two and drops some top tips to make your sim racing laptimes plummet like a stone.
