Malcolm X was assassinated 46 years ago.So we will be honoring the life of our bro.Minster.In December 1953, a little more than a year after he was paroled from prison, Malcolm was named the minister at the NOI's Boston mosque, Temple No. 11. The following year he also became the minister at Temple No. 12 (Philadelphia) and Temple No. 7 (New York). Muhammad Speaks, the NOI newspaper, was founded by Malcolm in 1957. Beginning in the 1960s, Malcolm was invited to participate in numerous debates, including forums on radio stations (Los Angeles, New York, Washington), television programs ("Open Mind," "The Mike Wallace News Program") and universities (Harvard Law School, Howard University, Columbia University). In 1963, the New York Times reported that Malcolm X was the second most sought after speaker in the United States. On June 29, 1963 Malcolm lead the Unity Rally in Harlem. It was one of the nations largest civil rights events. After befriending and ministering to boxer Cassius Clay, the boxer decides to convert to the Muslim religion and join the Nation of Islam. In February 1964, Clay announces he has changed his name to Muhammad Ali. In March 1964, after his split with the NOI, Malcolm forms the Muslim Mosque, Inc. Several months later, he also organizes the Organizations of Afro-American Unity (OAAU). Malcolm's autobiography, which he worked on for two years with writer Alex Haley, was published in November 1965.

Transcendent Man is a documentary film by filmmaker Barry Ptolemy. The film chronicles the life and ideas of Ray Kurzweil, inventor, futurist, and author of The Singularity is Near. Transcendent Man presents his vision of technological singularity, the point in the future in which technology will be advancing so rapidly that humans will have to enhance themselves with artificial intelligence in order to keep up. Kurzweil predicts the dawning of a new civilization in which humans will no longer be dependent upon their physical bodies, will become infinitely more intelligent, and lose the ability to distinguish between real and virtual reality. Kurzweil believes this will cause human aging and illness to be reversed, world hunger and poverty to be solved, and death to be “cured”. Critics accuse Ray of being too optimistic, and argue that the dangers of the Singularity far outweigh the benefits, pointing out the apocalyptic implications that once machines achieve consciousness, humanity may not be able to control them.

Black men culturally are not brought up to feel as highly about black women as white men feel about white women or other groups either as far as I'm concerned...It's not just how their families raise them, its the entire society they live in, and the entire society's devaluation of black women. Of course there are many that do respect black women, but the relatively high amount of the ones that don't is the friggin topic of this discussion, and the ones that do seem to feel like an exception, when they should just feel that its their obligation and responsibility as a man and a black man, as opposed to feeling like he's going out of his way to do a good deed or something.

Black history should not be relegated to a month. In Black history, after all, is American history. Many people, both Whites and Blacks, argue that Black history should be incorporated into year-round education. Washington quotes Stephen Donovan, a 41-year-old lawyer, saying, “If Obama’s election means anything, it means that African American history IS American history and should be remembered and recognized every day of the year.”
