Podcast Pediatricians
Summary: Podcast Pediatricians is co-hosted and created by Drs. Matt Gotthold and Rob Walter, two community pediatricians who are friends, competitors and affable antagonists. Despite the exhaustion of battling insurance companies and 3 am phone calls, we LOVE practicing pediatrics. We are front-line pediatric caregivers who, between us, see hundreds of patients per week. We are truly independent voices. We sign our own paychecks. With over 50 years of combined pediatric experience, we are eager to share what we know and think with anyone with an interest in understanding and promoting the well-being of infants, children, teens, and young adults. Our intended audience includes savvy parents, and pediatric caregivers of all stripes: nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, family docs, residents, medical students, and our fellow pediatricians. Our conversational tangents may frequently be wide-ranging, often encompassing popular culture and a few rants, but we always try to bring things back to what this podcast is primarily about: the health of children and their families.

Rob Walter and Matt Gotthold kick off our inaugural show with our five infant sleep commandments and then explain why the new AAP infant room sharing recommendations are just wrong, and end with Mr Rogers Tall Man. We sign our own paychecks and owe no allegiance to any local or national organizations. We offer practical pediatric advice from the front lines. We both LOVE being pediatricians, despite insurance hassles, electronic medical records and silly 3 AM phone calls. We hope to appeal to savvy parents AND pediatric caregivers of all stripes: Family Practitioners, Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Pediatric Physician Assistants, Pediatric Nurses, medical/nursing students, residents and our fellow pediatricians. We plan to highlight one pediatric topic at a time, with historical perspectives and practical advice, sometimes in multiple episodes, often later with a follow-up episode with an expert in that field. Quality pediatric care can be complicated. It is often not black or white - and we revel in the gray. We are hoping to actively engage YOU, our fellow caregivers and parents, with your feedback on podcastpediatricians.com, including pearls and faux pas and suggestions and comments to share.
