It's Super Effective | Pokémon Sun/Moon, Pokémon GO + More

We go over another interview with Ohmori and Masuda regarding Pokémon Sword & Shield. This interview also talked about having no plans for a Pokémon Snap 2 in the future. They also talk about why some features do not return to the games. We go over a cute TCG ruling regarding a Pikachu card. Niantic has shown off that Armored Mewtwo is coming to Pokémon GO on July 10th. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft speak out against Donald Trump's tariff, which they say will hurt the video game industry.

We get an update on the National Dex issue from Masuda directly! Pokémon GO celebrates it's 3rd anniversary by spawning Shiny Alolan Pokémon in the wild. Pokémon Masters gets a release date for this Summer and gave us an 8 minute trailer for the game, showing little gameplay footage. The TCG is getting another expansion right after Pokémon Worlds and more Pokémon phone cases are arriving soon too!

We take time this week to address the #BringBackNationalDex issue that surrounds Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Since Harry Potter Wizard's Unite is out (Niantic's new mobile game), we compare it to Pokémon GO. Japan is getting a new Pokémon Cafe. The PTCG is releasing a new set soon, called Unified Minds. Finally, we talk about if every Pokémon is truly someone's favorite.

We attended Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago for the third year, and we have a full report on how Niantic did this event compared to years prior. We talk about the Jirachi quest, the spawns, the weather, and the lack of issues we had playing. E3 was last week too! SBJ, Greg, and Will talk about the new Gym Leader in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Two new Pokémon, Impidimp and Yamper, were discovered during game play at E3. Masuda and Ohmori talk about the Wild Area and Max Raid battles and we have input on that as well.

The Pokémon Sword and Shield Direct unveiled new Pokémon including Corviknight, Wooloo, Gossifleur, and Drednaw. The Wild Area brings what seems to be the raid mechanic from Pokémon GO into a Zelda-like environment for multiplayer action. Game Freak showed off characters such as your Rival, the Champion, and the Professor of Galar. We talk about how Dynamax can provide more possibilities over Z-Moves or Mega Stones. Finally, we talk about how the Legendary Pokémon may be related to CMYK.

Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon HOME, Pokémon Masters, and more was unveiled at the Pokémon Press Conference in Tokyo. We go over our thoughts on Pokémon Sleep and the GO Plus+, as well as, DeNA's upcoming game, Pokémon Masters. We also talk about how Pokémon HOME will work with Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, Pokémon Bank, and Pokémon Sword/Shield in early 2020.

A new Pokémon mobile game, Rumble Rush, is out in Australia. Three new Lures and some new Gen 4 Pokémon surprise us in Pokémon GO this past week. Niantic is also introducing a "raid week" this upcoming Tuesday. The Pokémon Fit plushes are getting the Generation 2 Pokémon added to the series. Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf surface in regional raids and in the wild for Pokémon GO. New Pokémon cases are coming out this week, along with Detective Pikachu. Unbroken Bonds, the newest Pokémon TCG set, got released over the weekend with a brand new Charizard card that is actually pretty good. Also, a new app has been released by The Pokémon Company called Pokémon Pass.

Nintendo has posted their Fiscal Year Ending (March 2019) and we go over what their plans are for the 3DS and the Nintendo Switch for the rest of 2019. Detective Pikachu kicked off in Japan, and results have been very positive for the movie. Build-a-bear is getting more plushes, GO tickets are still slowing rolling out, and new Wobbuffet merch is hitting shelves in Japan.

The Pokémon Company has announced that there will be a full rotation of the current cards in the TCG format the day before Pokémon Worlds. Cards such as Ultra Ball, Guzma, and Tapu Lele will not be playable starting August 15th, 2019. There are Pokémon GO issues in Milwaukee, WI, so restraining orders are in line for some players. Mr. Mime was almost cut from the Detective Pikachu movie, but after talking to the president of The Pokémon Company, it made the cut!
