Known as “The Vampire of Dusseldorf” or “The Dusseldorf Monster”, Peter Kurten was a German serial killer and rapist that was found guilty of nine counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder. Born in Germany in 1883 to an impoverished and abusive household, Kurten became infamous after he occasionally made attempts to drink the blood from his victims’ wounds. He was executed in 1931.
