Back in December 2017, I had the opportunity to sit down with Head of Product Development/R&D Marco Achenbach while touring LAMY’s headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. Marco was a great sport, sitting down and doing an interview with me with very little notice, on a very tight schedule! He and I talked about what it’s like to design LAMY products, their approach to design and how they work with designers like Jasper Morrison, and where they plan to focus for the future.
In December 2017, I had the distinct pleasure of getting to tour the LAMY headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. During my time there, I was able to sit down and interview LAMY's CEO, Bernhard Roesner. He was a fascinating man to interview because he has been running the company for over a decade, through one of their highest growth periods in the company's history. We discussed the company's history, size, their headquarters, where the brand is sold worldwide, what drives them to do what they do, German culture, product design and selection, and where they plan to take the fountain pen community in the future. It was my honor to sit down with Mr. Roesner, and I'm thrilled to be able to share it with you all today. It will surely give you a deeper insight into this compelling and iconic fountain pen brand.
This week’s Goulet Guest is a special one, because I was able to sit down with Brian Gray of Edison Pens while I was visiting him for the first time in Milan, Ohio. A bit of a different cadence than my other Goulet Guests, this is more of a casual conversation between the two of us with some guided questions along the way. We talk about each of our origins stories and business philosophies, Edison’s new space, their upgraded equipment, the size of their team, what it takes to design a pen, and what new Edison pens we can expect to see in 2018. Hopefully you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed making it.
