Citizens' Climate Lobby

One of the most powerful opportunities for common ground we as CCL volunteers can make in our discussions about the impacts of climate change is the many ways it is already negatively impacting human health. Join CCL Health Action Team co-leads​ Drs. Robert Byron, MD, and Cynthia Mahoney, MD, to learn more about the connections between our changing climate, fossil fuel air pollution and human health, how to communicate about it effectively with the public, and the many major medical organizations already supporting climate action.

  José Aguto is Associate Director of Catholic Climate Covenant, where he raises up the call to care for creation and care for the poor. Prior to joining Catholic Climate Covenant, he was Legislative Secretary for Sustainable Energy and Environment at the Friends Committee on National Legislation. Aguto was one of CCL’s earliest allies on Capitol Hill and worked with CCL on the introduction of the Republican Climate Resolution, which eventually led to the formation of the bipartisan House Climate Solutions Caucus. Aguto has also worked for the National Congress of American Indians in the service of tribal governments seeking to address climate change.

Today on the show you are going to meet an unlikely climate advocate, Aaron Telitz--an Indy car racer. Originally from Birchwood, WI, Aaron grew up at a fishing resort and could filet a bluegill fish in 25 seconds. Wanting to experience the thrill of more speed, Aaron turned to amateur car racing which led to professional racing. This past season he did something radical--he charged himself a carbon fee for all of the oil, gas, and tires he used. Host, Peterson Toscano interviews Aaron about this incredibly fast car yet surprisingly effiecient car, carbon pricing, Aaron's favorite foods, and much more.  Art House Hope Clark is the director of Wheebarrow Productions. A trained dancer from the USA, Hope began doing community art in Northern Africa. Now based in Kent County Maryland, USA, Hope has turned her attention towards climate change. She is working on a community art piece called Make a Movement. This is a work in progress. His last assignment was Director of Operational Planning, Policy, and Strategy in Washington, D.C. He is currently Executive Vice President for Government Affairs at Texzon Technologies, a pioneer in the field of electromagnetic wave propagation, power storage, and electricity distribution. Gen. Devereaux is also a volunteer with the Asheville chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby where he educates the public about the national security risks of climate change.
