This month's live edition of the show features a conversation with the lovely, talented, and funny host of Chatterbox, Jessie Balli. Chatterbox is a weekly storytelling open mic that takes place every Wednesday at 8 pm. For more on Chatterbox, please visit chatterboxaz.com. For more on this show, head to ltdengagementpod.com.
This is one of the archive shows from the first year, it is one of my favorites from that initial run, and it features Leah Marche, which is probably why it’s one of my favorites. I love her work, I love the way she delivers it – if you can listen to her set at the beginning of this show and not be blown away by it, you may want to have your ears checked, or your head checked, or something, because she’s amazing.
On this week's show, we've got the second half of my conversation with music journalist Jason Woodbury, and we focus on our favorite albums of the past year, albums we're looking forward to in the year ahead, as well as heavy dose of Bruce talk, which is bound to happen when you get a couple of Springsteen fans in a room together.
Music journalist Jason Woodbury stopped by the office to talk, and boy did we. We dug into it and had the sort of conversation that only life-long appreciators and collectors of music can have, and it was great! The recording session lasted well over two hours, so I split it into two episodes for easier consumption. Part II will go live on February 12th.
This show was recorded on the night of the inauguration. It seems appropriate that there was a torrential downpour. I had a great time talking to Dana Diehl. Her debut collection of short fiction, Our Dreams Might Align, is available now from Jellyfish Highway Press, and anywhere you buy books. It’s a great collection, and during the course of the conversation, we got pretty deep into the process of writing it.
A live edition of Limited Engagement from September 2015, this show features Phoenix poet Jack Evans (co-host of the long-running Caffeine Corridor series as well as a luminary of the Phoenix Poetry scene) with some wonderful accompaniment from Tom Bell on classical guitar.
The Haymarket Squares (Mark Sunman, Marc Oxborrow, Mark Allred, and John Luther) stopped by the house to play a couple of songs and then sat down to explain punkgrass, tell me how handsome I am, and pet Gizmo—and I didn't even invite them over, they just showed up! That last part is not true at all. It was a great conversation, and they're amazing musicians, but don't take my word for it, have a listen.
This edition of episode features poet Shawnte Orion, most recently author of the full-length collection The Existentialist Cookbook from NYQ Books, and the chapbook Faithful as the Ground from Five Oaks Press. At the top of the show is a terrific mini-set from singer-songwriter Robbie Cohen
This second edition of Limited Engagement features a reading and interview with writer and editor Frank Jackson.
On this edition of Limited Engagement: Christopher Cokinos and Eric Magrane, the editors of The Sonoran Desert: A Literary Field Guide. The book is an anthology of literary responses to the flora and fauna of The Sonoran Desert accompanied by gorgeous illustrations and field guide entries written by the editors. Available now from The University of Arizona Press.
On this episode of Limited Engagement, an interview with the editorial board of Rinky Dink Press: Rosemarie Dombrowski (newly crowned Poet Laureate of Phoenix, AZ), Kat Hofland, Emily Holloway, Jonathan Kistner, Sophia McGovern, and Shawnte Orion. With this crew on the panel, it gets a little rowdy. For more information on Rinky Dink, visit rinkydinkpress.wordpress.com
On this edition of Limited Engagement from December, 2015, we have Rosemarie Dombrowski, Kelsey Pinckney, and Jake Friedman from Four Chambers Press. The discussion goes off the rails - it's great! Plus, a fantastic opening set from Grace Rolland (AKA, Rising Sun Daughter), with Ruth Wenger on cello.
On this episode of Limited Engagement, a reading and discussion with novelist Paul Mosier. Paul's new novel for middle grade readers, and his first for HarperCollins, Train I Ride is due out January 2017.
On this episode of Limited Engagement, a reading from experimental theater playwright and all-around amazing human being, Christopher Danowski.
In this edition of Limited Engagement, we have a reading and interview with poet Lois Roma-Deeley. Lois is the author of several collections, including the forthcoming The Short List of Certainties.
