This episode gets pretty heavy in some parts. Peter‘s a guy who comes from a background that’s very different than mine, less different than Andy‘s, and substantially different than a lot of people I usually get a chance to interact with. It was enlightening, and interesting. All in all a good show. This Week Brian Gordon of Fowl Language Comics Andy and Brian actually go back quite a ways so this is a very personal story-centric episode, which is interesting. Plus we stuck a comic and a cartoonist together for 2 hours and then chopped it up for the good bits. So the anecdotes are well worth your time. Funny stuff this week. Which hopefully helps smooth things out because. It certianly wasn’t the best weekend for anybody. Completely unrelated to the show I spent most of the weekend trying to sort out very non-funny feelings about everything that happened in Paris on Friday and honestly, I still don’t think I’m there yet. I changed the banner image, because … we’re really not the kind of show to delve into it but I think a show of solidarity is really important here. If you know my old shows, then you know I have a lot of thoughts on the subject.Which sucks. It sucks. Those guys who did that suck. But I don’t do that kind of show anymore. And to be honest I was just glad I had audio editing to throw myself into for the weekend so I didn’t have too think much about how I feel about it. I needed time, I needed space, and I was glad to get it. So we don’t talk about Paris much, It’s too soon. just briefly in the intro to express our heartfelt sympathies with the injured and families of the murdered. This just isn’t the venue. And Brian was a great guest who it would’ve been a disservice to if we sidetracked the whole thing to current events. So please, just enjoy the episode. As a programming note you may notice that we’re starting to get a better sense of the shape of the show we’re trying to do. Intros and outros, less of our yapping to make more time with the guest … apparently my desire for more robust show notes. Our ideas of what we’re trying to do have crystalized considerably since Episode 1. Moving into episode 3 and beyond these refinements will hopefully continue without Andy and I turning into prima donnas and going all behind the music on each other. It’s very unlikely that will happen, as I don’t think either of us have any illusions about what we do being high art. But the only way to test it is to make the show ridiculously successful, so if you’re curious to find out if fame would make us self-destruct be sure and tell all your friends about us. Enough about that, onto the fun. Alyssa is a popular blogger and … twitter-er? twitter personality? tweep? … what word are all the hip kids using for that these days anyway? Since she blogs too does that make her a twogger? The semantics of what she does remain shrouded in mystery. Her, well she’s usually a little less shrouded. And that’s great. Modesty has it’s place; and the internet is not that place.  On that note, given the title of our show I can neither confirm nor deny what anyone was wearing during recording … I mean I can, but I won’t. You’ll just have to use your imagination. I’m glad Andy was able to do whatever social media voodoo he employs to convince people to come on our show for this one. Twitter is one of those places on the internet I only tangentially understand, it’s an occupational hazard when you spend most of your time thinking in terms of ‘how many hours of tape to we have?’, so I only had the passing knowledge of occasional retweets by people in my feed when Andy said she agreed to be on. I do like a fun guest who’s glad to let the conversation go where it will though, and she definitely has that. There’s also a joyous irony in taking someone who habitually tweets scantily clad selfies and asking them to be on the radio. If you’re reading this then there’s a pretty good chance you know more about her than I did last week. So you know that her big topics are atheism, sex-positive feminism, positive body image, and plain old nerdy stuff like My Little Pony: FiM and while she was on the show we pretty much ran the gamut on those topics. It’s a fun discussion. You’ll like it. So enjoy, and if you all behave maybe she’ll agree to come back sometime. The New Star Trek series I mentioned won’t be out until January 2017.

Hey Gang! Welcome to the new podcast. Naked Diner will be me (Jack) and frequent guest of .. I think all 3 of my previous podcasts at one time or another, comedian and author Andy Hall from Laughing in Disbelief over on Pathos. And we’ll have guests! For this, our inaugural episode we have the inimitable Atheist Pig himself Winston Hamilton joining us for the full second-half! We discuss how he got into webcomicing, how his comic found it’s voice, and the pitfalls of social conventions that don’t really fit with your way of life. In the first half Andy and I talk some current events and start to get a feel for the general shape of what the Naked Diner Podcast is going to be like (which is to say, the music needs work and our intro skills are a bit rusty). We’re planning for this one to ramp up quick folks so buckle in and come back in 2 weeks for Episode 2, It’s going to be fun. We might end up going weekly with it, but truth be told it’s Halloween week and ain’t neither of us recording on Saturday. Andy because he has kids and me because I’m immature and like dressing up in costumes.
