 HLC-023-Fetal Body Parts-Planned Parenthood | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:36

Welcome to the to the Harvesting Fetal Body Parts/Planned Parenthood edition of the HLC Podcast for July 28, 2015. We are Mike Stopa – nanophysicist and former congressional candidate and radio talk host Todd Feinburg. Find us online at harvardlunchclub.com, subscribe on itunes or any other podcasting platform. You can also find us on Facebook. Our twitter handle is @hlcpodcast On this week’s podcast: 1) A video sting has caught a Planned Parenthood executive negotiating the price for fetal bodyparts – even though the organization swears it makes no profits, which might be unlawful, from the transactions. And a doctor talks about good looking fetal organs over fine wine and food. We’ll discuss the multiple tapes and what they mean. 2) Can we make a conversation about the import export bank and whether it should be renewed into an exciting segment? I say yes, Stopa says he’s done the math and it can’t be done. We’ll let you decide. 3) The city of Boston was dropped this week as the US choice to compete for the 2024 summer Olympics, the city’s elites in business and politics bungled the bid. Is the population’s lack of interest a sign of growing mistrust of our morbidly obese, unable to do anything well government? We’ll have our shower thoughts: And our Hidden Gem features another dreary, overly pretty 60’s drone of the type favored by our resident physicist. This one is by Laurie Anderson and it’s called Hiawatha.

You can also find us on Facebook. On this week’s podcast we have a special guest who George Will calls the indispensable journalist – Heather MacDonald of the Manhattan Institute. Topic 1 – Since we have Heather MacDonald here, we’ll discuss community policing, the violence in urban America over the past year and why the left supports social programs that keep minorities in permanent poverty. Topic 2 – Heather wrote an article recently on how California higher education is being forced to confront micro-aggression against women, minorities and other protected classes. Topic 3 – The media and the ruling class of America seem to be scared to death of Donald Trump, even as the media revels in the easy coverage and high ratings he offers. What’s Donald’s goal, why is he such a threat, what will become of him. We’ll have our shower thoughts, and for the Hidden Gem we’ll feature Oh Land and their Rita TV Show theme called “Speak Out Now”

 HLC-021-Mocking Atticus Finch Edition | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:34

Welcome to the to Mocking Atticus Finch edition of the HLC Podcast for July 14, 2015 with nanophysicist and former congressional candidate Mike Stopa and radio talk host Todd Feinburg. Today’s topics: What will we be saying about Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in a year? The new Harper Lee release called Go Set A Watchman and complaints that the To Kill a Mockingbird sequel, written before Mockingbird but sharing a seemingly different Atticus Finch, is racist. Todd kidnaps the podcast and introduces a topic on Einstein, meditation and Michael Masser, the stockbroker turned songwritter who penned classic monster schmaltz like Touch Me in the Morning. So we skip the conversation on Iran. We’ll have our shower thoughts… And our Hidden Gem will be one of the huge hits written by  Michael Masser, who died last week.  HLC-020-No Sanctuary for Kate Steinle | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:46

Welcome to the to No Sanctuary for Kate Steinle/The Illegal Shooting of Trump edition of the HLC Podcast for July 7, 2015 2015. We are Mike Stopa – nanophysicist and former congressional candidate and radio talk host Todd Feinburg. Find us online at harvardlunchclub.com, subscribe on itunes or any other podcasting platform. You can also find us on Facebook. This Week: A young woman walking with her father on a pier in San Francisco was shot without reason by an illegal alien from Mexico who had been deported five times. But San Fran is a sanctuary city… just not for Kate Steinle. Donald Trump is on fire as a presidential candidate, the result, perhaps, of his freedom to speak without regard for the niceties that inhibit other candidates. Can he win this way? Did he say anything wrong? About 2,000 people a year are hit by gunfire in Chicago shootings, the American city run by the first Obama chief of staff and where the Obama’s lived before seeking safety in the White House. What does this tell us about compassion and how liberal policies treat minorities trapped in the compassion zone?  We’ll have our shower thoughts: And our Hidden Gem! Billboard magazine says this song, Shout, was the number one summer hit of 1985. Shoutout to excusemyadlib.com @EMA_radio1

 HLC-019-End of Sovereignty | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:24

It's the Harvard Lunch Club Podcast for June 30, 2015, our End of Sovereignty Edition. Topic I. We discuss the monetary crisis in Greece with Naima Hoque, who paints a vivid picture of how the interconnectedness of world financial systems and the fear of political systems to face short-term difficulties is dismantling capitalism, national sovereignty, and worst of all, is setting us up for a bigger crash when bad times come. Naima spent 20 years in finance, she's a graduate of the Wharton School and MIT's Sloan School. Topic II. Princeton professor Robbie George, a social conservative who is a passionate defender of traditional marriage excoriates the Supreme Court for what he considers to be two terrible decisions - one on ObamaCare and the other on gay marriage. He is the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton, the Herbert W. Vaughan senior fellow of the Witherspoon Institute, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, and a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School. He is founder and director of Princeton's James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions and was appointed by the Speaker of the House to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom in 2012 and elected its chair in 2013. Our Hidden Gem showcases a Who song from 1965 that is considered a classic teen anthem but only reached number 85 on the American charts. Mike Stopa is a nano-physicist and former congressional candidate, and co-host Todd Feinburg is a radio talk host.   http://traffic.libsyn.com/harvardlunchclub/2015-06-30-End_of_Sovereignty.mp3

 HLC-018-The Importance of Symbolism | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:26

On this week’s podcast Last week’s horrific murder of 9 black parishioners at a Charleston church has resulted in a debate over the Confederate flag and the president using the word "nigger" in a podcast. The treasury secretary says a woman’s face will soon be fronting the ten dollar bill. Is this a good move, and if so, who should it be? A new study says medical marijuana doesn’t provide many of the benefits that have been part of the hype. Should pot liberalization be stopped? We’ll have our shower thoughts, and we'll revisit a Beatles song released this week in 1966 that became their 11th straight number 1 single.  HLC-017-Hillary Promises You Everything | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:31

On this week’s podcast with Mike Stopa and Todd Feinburg... The head of the NAACP in SpokaneWashington is forced out of her position for being white. Isn’t this racist? How is she different from Senator Liz Warren? Hillary Clinton announces for president again, and sounds stilted and contrived again and big govt again. How will this work for her? A new poll indicates that middle class Americans are moving away from the expense of four year colleges in favor of more targeted, practical and less expensive alternatives. And isn’t the big govt crowd, responsible for perpetrating the higher education mess, trying to turn it into an advantage by saying big govt should intervene further to alleviate the problems that big government programs like college loans have created? We'll also have our Shower Thoughts, and we'll visit the 1960's for a hit song written by Rogers and Hammerstein in the 1940s but made into a number one song twice - with two separate recordings - by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Two new reports on the TSA show the TSA to be a useless, incompetent, money sucking organization that performs "Security Theater." Doesn't that make it sound like the rest of the federal government?   The New York Times prints an op-ed by a journalist/author, Lee Siegel, who discusses how smart he was to get an Ivy League diploma and two post-grad degrees paid for with student loans which he refuses to pay back... and he wants you to do the same. Is this a ruse?   Plus: Shower Thoughts...   And finally, this week's Hidden Gem comes from the Rolling Stones, circa 1978

 HLC-014-Is Hillary Still Inevitable? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:56

On this week's Harvard Conservative Lunch Club Podcast with Mike Stopa and Todd Feinburg: Is Hillary still inevitable? Or is Marco Rubio the one who’s inevitable? Democrats seem unsure. The New York Times says Liberal workforce policies on things like child care or maternity leave often backfire, with employers making adjustments to negate the benefit. Does that mean they’re a bad idea? We talk about President Obama’s “You Didn’t Build That’ speech at Georgetown last week.

 HLC-013 Arrogance of Power Podcast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:08

Newsmen don't do such things when they won't to be taken seriously - so why did George do it? We share our Shower Thoughts... and we feature the Grateful Dead on this week's Hidden Gem. Thanks for subscribing... and helping us promote... the HLC #Podcast!

We are Mike Stopa – nanophysicist and former congressional candidate and radio talk host Todd Feinburg. Find us online at harvardlunchclub.com, subscribe on itunes or any other podcasting platform. Our twitter handle is @hlcpodcast. You can also find us on Facebook. Are Tom Brady and his Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots a great team which commited a mild infraction or a bunch of cheaters who should be taken out back and pistol whipped by Aaron Hernandez? We discuss the moral implications of #Deflategate and Brady's 4 game suspension. A new Pew Poll on religion shows a trend away from Christianity, a drop of 8% since 2007, with non-christians increasing 25% to nearly 6% of the population. How soon will it be before religion doesn’t really matter? What does this mean for the country? The president and Liz Warren have been bickering over the Trans-Pacific Partnership. What’s this all about

 HLC-011 Liberal Bedtime Stories | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:50

Welcome to the 11th edition of the Harvard Lunch Club Conservative Podcast from Mike Stopa & Todd Feinburg. Find us on twitter at @hlcpodcast @mikestopaMA @toddtalk A new book called "Family Values" is making waves after it’s authors proposed the idea that parents should consider doing less reading of bedtime stories to their children because the benefits are so great that they might be giving their own children an unfair advantage over other less fortunate kids. A riveting interview with the creator of the HBO series the WIRE, David Simon, casts events in Baltimore last week in an intriguing light. The former police reporter for the Baltimore Sun puts a chunk of the blame on the ambitions of former liberal Mayor Martin O’Malley, among other things. We discuss who should get the blame for the disgraceful condition ofAmerica’s cities and the poor. Will Democrats take the blame since urban America is Owned & Operated by the left? A free speech convention in Texas last weekend led to violence when terrorists were killed by security guards. The cartooning convention was running a contest to find the best drawings of Mohammed, in an event organized by Pamela Geller's American Freedom Defense Initiative. Attacks against Geller focus on her group being called a hate group, but don't seem to focus on the simple fact that the attack confirms the worst fears about radical islam.

 HLC-010 Baltimore Burns | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:00:39

It's the Baltimore Burns edition of the Harvard Conservative Lunch Club Podcast @hlcpodcast with Nano physicist and former congressional candidate Mike Stopa @mikestopaMA and radio talk host Todd Feinburg @toddtalk for April 28, 2015, our 10th program. Topic 1 - Another death of a black man at the hands of law enforcement - this one, the death of Freddie Gray - perhaps the most shocking - has led to violent street riots in Baltimore. What is going on, what can be changed, who is to blame? Topic 2 - The video of one mother, confronting her son and slapping him around as she berated him for being part of the Baltimore riots, has led some to call her the "Mother of the Year." But wait a sec - isn't this what we call child abuse? Topic 3 - Mike was at an event with Harvard conservatives this week and was fascinated with the Anscome Society - college kids arguing for abstaining from sex until marriage. We discuss the relevance of this viewpoint in today's world - and to us as liberty/conservative types. Plus - our Shower Thoughts and the Hidden Gem song of the week - Louie Louie (1963) by the Kingsmen following the death at age 71 of lead singer Jack Ely.  HLC-009 Lost Causes (Climate Change) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 55:39

On the Lunch Club Conservative Podcast for 4-22-15, we review climate change on the 45th birthday of Earth Day, which Mike and I were part of as high schoolers back at it's inception. Hard to believe, but pollution and the coming ice age were conquered. But sadly, new scares keep coming.  We review Scott Walker's new, harder line position on immigration reform, a dramatic change from where he was 8 or 10 years ago... And we discuss opinion pieces that pose as news stories on right wing sites like Breitbart. We also deliver our Shower Thoughts... and feature Randy Newman on our Hidden Gem. Mike named this week's program the Lost Causes Edition because we feature two lost causes: 1. to turn back the global warming juggernaut and the CO2 armageddon crusaders and 2. to turn around the illegal alien tsunami and actually send illegal aliens back to their countries.

HLC-008 Hillary: Hildenberg or Hiltanic, she’s going down | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 51:24

On this week's show we’re discussing Campaign Hillary – which we’re renaming either the Hildenberg (after the Hindenberg) or the HILtanic, because like the Titanic, Hillary is a sure thing - unsinkable and… she is going down!!!  Our second topic will focus on Aaron Hernandez, once signed to a 40 million dollar contract with the New England Patriots, now in prison for the rest of his life for killing a friend. How can we understand this? Then, we’ll decide whether Social Security should be saved as argued by Chris Christie, or run into the ground as favored by the Democrats.  Later we’ll have our Shower Thoughts and then in our hidden gem segment we’ll pay tribute to a song from the past.
