The show starts with Colin and Len discussing (ok, kinda debating) Psalm 119:158 and how it applies to the 21st century Christian. This conversation (ok, debate) started on Facebook last week. Joel Osteen mishandled scripture on Facebook again (to the surprise of no one). What would it take for Joel’s followers to stop following him? On “The Briefing” this week Dr. Mohler discusses the NFL and recent cases of child abuse and domestic violence with Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings and Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens, and the need for reform. We play clips from that episode and discuss where Dr. Mohler got it right. We get the perspective of Len who is an avid NFL fan and Colin, who doesn’t like Pokemon (we don’t know what he meant either). Tim shares a YouTube clip of a fan who “heard” from God that he needs to spend more time in the bible and less time watching football. Does God communicate to His people this way today, or are we misunderstanding terminology? Do Tim and Len say “Dude” and “Bro” too much? One YouTuber thinks so, and we have the clip to prove it. After going through some feedback from our faithful listeners, we discuss the top 10 songs in Contemporary Christian Music. We talk about what’s good about it and what could be better. We wanted more of Colin, and we got it.! Colin reads an article by one of his favorite bands “Switchfoot” who wrote about why they don’t sing Christian songs, even though they’re Christians. In our discussion about music, we wonder how we should respond when our favorite artists go apostate or start teaching false doctrine. What should our response be? Should we promote them AFTER they have renounced their faith or started teaching falsely? What about pastors/teachers who do the same? Do you fear the four “Blood Moons” on the horizon? We then listen to more of Len’s conversation with Matt the atheist and have a discussion on presuppositional apologetics and the shortcomings of evidential and classicist arguments for the existence of God and why we all reject those methodologies in favor of presup. After a short clip from a mid week podcast, we then discuss Dr. James White’s debate with open theist Bob Enyart, we play his cross examination and talk about why open theism is damnable heresy and should be rejected by bible believing, born again Christians.
