The Radio Blast: A Sports Podcast

Ok, I'm not handing out grades but I did think there were some interesting moments from Round 1 of the NFL Draft that I wanted to recap.  Also, why the media is already foaming at the mouth to write their NFL is Anti-Gay article about Michael Sam, and why they are wrong.

What happens when you get two sports media geeks together to talk everything from the current state of journalism, to why ESPN sucks (only a few minutes of that I promise), to why the word "brand" is killing journalism?  The latest edition of The Radio Blast featuring my fellow media geek, reporter, blogger and professor Brian Moritz.  Fair warning to my regular listeners (both of you) that this is a full on geekout.  But you should listen anyway.

With my favorite sports on hiatus I thought it would be a good time to talk food.  And I couldn't think of a better guest than food blogger and fellow snark lover, Jared Paventi.  In this episode we talk about our hatred of Olive Garden, the perfect meal, the next trend in restaurants and why we're not food snobs...ok we might be food snobs. Jared also gives us some insight into having a daughter with celiac disease and of course...our favorite Golden Girls episode.

In this episode we take a look back at the Masters, why Jordan Spieth cost me a gloating opportunity, and why United Airlines just set the bar for social media oops.

As we say good bye to the NCAA we say hello to The Masters.  One of the great transition times on the sports calendar.  We'll recap the NCAA final and look forward to The Masters.  And why I don't care about the dark history of Augusta National.

We've all had time to digest the finale of How I Met Your Mother.  Now it's time to react.  I'll share my thoughts on why it's not as bad as everyone thinks.  And another guest caller chimes in to voice his opinion on why it was perfect....it's Conaghan.

In this episode we say a series of "Good Byes".  Starting off with Chelsea Handler and Dan Marino.  Then it's the debut of my buddy Conaghan who joins me to talk How I Met Your Mother, Yankee baseball, why he's looking for a new NFL team and how many weekends we could do in college right now.  I promise we recorded this before the HIMYM finale!  But...nailed it!

Tonight we say good bye to a man of conviction and principles...maybe the last one...Ralph Wilson.  Plus we take a look back at the first weekend of the NCAA tourney, and why I might be the only person who agrees with the NFL's no dunk rule.

He's back!  We had such a great time talking basketball with Brendan McDaniels we've brought him back to recap round 1 of the tourney.  We talk cranky old coaches, which lower seed has a legit shot and why college SIDs have such an easy job.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  No not Christmas, March Madness!  In this episode I take a quick review of the brackets, share my thoughts on the region of death, why this is a coaches tournament and even throw in a cheap plug.

It's March Madness time so I brought in old friend, college basketball play by play man, and Mark Schmidt apologist Brendan McDaniels to talk college hoops, NBA and Bills.  We had such a great time I've broken it up into two segments.  In part 1 we talk how to fix the NCAA regular season, is this the year for Cinderella, and even Pearl Washington gets a mention.

You like wine? Of course you do. Then you'll love my chat with wine expert Tony Ventura (who just happens to be my step father). We'll talk the future of wine, the one wine rule that needs to be broken, and is there such a thing as a perfect bottle of wine. Did you really think I wouldn't talk about Jim Boeheim losing it at the end of the Duke game??!! My thoughts on that as well as the end of the Olympics, the cesspool of America, and a final goodbye to my new favorite broadcast team.

It's one of my favorite topics, bad broadcasting.  And even though NBC's coverage of the Olympics has been really good, there have definitely been some cringe worthy moments.  We'll talk Bode Miller, Scott Hamilton, and why one local sports talk show host wants to take away women's rights...well almost.
