Jewish tradition marks the shloshim (30 days) after a death as an important step in the mourning process. With the recent controversy about Eyal Golan, a leading Israeli station has removed his music from their playlist, although they claim the decision is unconnected with the police case. Here at Kol Cambridge we believe that oneis innocent until proven guilty, and certainly do not believe in trial by media. There are also inconsistencies - many musicians who are regularly played on the radio have actually been convicted of criminal offences, yet no one complains. Should music or indeed any art be censored because of the behaviour of its creator? We think that it is incredibly inappropriate to not play Eyal Golan simply because of these charges.
