In this week's episode, SolrCluster crew chats with Wes Caldwell about the growth of big data and search in the federal space and what some of the key search/big data challenges government entities face. Wes will be presenting on this topic at Lucene/Solr Exchange DC on April 16, 2014. Wes Caldwell is the Chief Architect at Intelligent Software Solutions (ISS), a leading software company operating primarily in the public sector, headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO. He is responsible for technical oversight of a variety of programs at ISS, supporting the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense and Federal Agencies. Wes has successfully led large scale implementations of mission- critical enterprise systems deployed into strategic and tactical environments.

Apache Committers have a responsibility to the community to help create a product that will outlive the interest of any particular individual. A prime responsibility of the Committers is to decide when a branch of code is ready for release. A release is not to be taken lightly; each release must uphold the Apache tradition of quality. Each Project Management Committee formally authorizes the distribution of releases to the public. Employing one quarter of the Committers to the Apache Lucene/Solr project, LucidWorks is the largest supporter of open source search in the industry.
