Anywhere But Here

This week Ant and Tom, once again, discuss a range of topics, from cyclists filming their journeys to catch lawbreakers, social networks being used to catch criminals and identify terrorists with an hour of people posting their images online. They also discuss more gigs they've been to, decry ticket touts and argue about how good the new Daft Punk album is as well as the impact of humans on global warming. Ant plays a song that deeply affects them both and Tom bores Ant with his 'H', which is all about High Wycombe...enjoy!

The show starts differently this week, there's a musical bed for the start of the podcast which is a video of a Korean lady playing Voodoo Chile by Jimmy Hendrix on a traditional Asian instrument called a Gayageum. Ant and Tom also discuss David Beckham's retirement, an Australian politician getting in trouble for 'liking' a teenagers genitals, bands they've been in (again!), Mcfly, Eurovision and Bonnie Tyler's performance, hospital radio and sea monsters! Dispelling rumours that they don't take any notice of sport Ant and Tom talk, at great length, about Sir Alex Ferguson retiring after more than quarter of a century and Tom gets emotional talking about Formula 1. They also discuss the recent kidnap case from Cleveland, although their information is sketchy-at-best. Ant discusses his love for female recording artists and they get geeky about other podcasters and internet celebrities contacting them on Twitter. Yes, this week's podcast is under an hour in length and includes the latest installment of the ABCs of ABH with the new jingle! Other topics include the death of Slayer's guitarist Jeff Hanneman, which was difficult to finish off for Tom, the BNP, Rochester's Sweeps Festival, the great service we received from www.studiospares.com, Miley Cyrus being the hottest woman in the world(?) and some pleading about listeners getting in touch. It's a packed out hour of fun and awkwardness!

Ant and Tom discuss further topics of wierd-and-wonderfulness in this weeks podcast, including a strange job vacancy, the sad demise of a young girl through cyber bullying, films they've seen, Daft Punk, money advice by Dave Ramsey and Dr Who. It's a long one, but this is to show off the new recording equipment. They promise they'll listen to the audience at some point and stop going over an hour, soon!

Ant and Tom try to revert back to the tighter format they had before they had guests and illnesses with interesting results. They spend the best part of 18 minutes introducing the podcast and the remainder of the time discussing the Boston Marathon Bombers and North Korea and the strange family that have run it since 1948. Not the most varied podcast this week, but we think it’s interesting! Here’s the video that Tom mentioned of the TED conference speech by Hyeonseo Lee, an escapee from North Korea. And here is the book Ant mentioned about the man who escaped from a North Korean political prison. Here’s that picture of the Korean penninsula at night, I think you’ll agree it’s certainly striking. As you can see, the lights are on in the South, but only Pyongyang has any electricity at night in the North.

This weeks podcast is a little subdued as Ant is just getting over a cold and a busy weekend and Tom is in the grips of man flu. Yes, we’re men and we’re complaining about having a cold. There was also have a distinct lack of guest, which meant that things had to get spun out a bit longer than they were intended to be. Topics covered this week include the common cold and why it can’t be cured, Califonication, the death of a controversial politian and North Korea as well as delivery companies screwing up Ant’s order for a mixer. apologies for the sniffling, sneezing and coughing! Ant and Tom are back on their own again this week and return to their fast and loose style, with disastrous consequences for the English language! They resume the ABCs of ABH with a ‘B’ themed show and tell, anti-Jihadi, naked feminists, Slovakian Easter traditions and talk about ‘Man Skills’ (a book by Nick Harper and published by Michael O’Mara Books) where we learn how to undo a bra with one hand and how to put yourself out when you catch on fire.
