 TKBS PODCAST APRIL 19 2013 [AUDIO] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:24

Today on The Kim Brown Show: The search and the manhunt is on in Watertown, Massachusetts for the suspected Boston Marathon bomber who eluded police late last night. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was identified by the FBI as one of the two men believed to be responsible for Monday's terror attack.  His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed by police during a shootout. I find it odd the media never identified these suspects by skin color, as they immediate after the attacks with the Saudi national, broadcasting a "dark-skinned" man was seen fleeing the bomb site.  Who would be guilty enough to run from a bomb blast? Anyway, I help you to pronounce the names of these terror suspects, and I spoke with Kelly McBride from the Poynter institute about the low-quality and inaccurate reporting we've witnessed from national news outlets this week.

Today on The Kim Brown Show: Tough morning in America.  Big blast at a fertilizer factory in West. Texas.  So far, its not known how many people are dead or injured.  We'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, Boston is still reeling from the twin bomb blasts that tore through near the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Yet, we've witnessed some incredibly irresponsible reporting, with CNN leading the way.  Peep John King pull a major fumble-roo-ski: Please read this brilliant article that was on The New Yorker website, titled "The Saudi Marathon Man". The author did a brilliant job of articulating the speed at which the media (and America) will seek a "dark-skinned" person to be the boogeyman. Plus, the homie Dart Adams joins us from Boston to give the "ground zero" perspective.  He lives a shirt-distance from the scene of the attack and he tells us the significance of an attack in his city on Patriots Day.  He's been documenting his own coverage on Boston's recovery on You Tube: And lastly, I wanted to get the perspective of a Muslim-American about what it's like to be around after a terrorist attack.  Hoda El-Shishtawy from the Muslim Public Affairs Council joins to discuss how the Muslim community is rallying around the victims of the Boston bombings.

Today on The Kim Brown Show: Jay-Z and Beyonce traveled to Cuba to celebrate their wedding anniversary, which seemed completely awesome to me, but decidedly less awesome to some Republican lawmakers.  Florida Senator Marco Rubio chastised the couple, even calling their trip "hypocritical".  The White House even had to respond to questions about the trip.  Watch Politico's Donovan Slack spit a snippet of Jay's "Open Letter" verse to Press Secretary, Jay Carney. The faux outrage over this non-issue reinforces that Americans are celebrity-obsessed and over-concerned about other people's business.  I'm joined with Hue Global's Jamila Aisha Brown, our expert on the black diaspora in Latin America.  Jamila has traveled to Cuba herself and says now, more than ever, it is easier for Americans to go there. Later in the show, I spoke with a columnist for The Washington Times, Brandon Brice.  Brandon is a brave, black conservative who agreed to come on my show and critique GOP outreach to people of color, Rand Paul's anemic speech at Howard University, and why he thinks stop-and-frisk is separate from "getting the government off your back". But first! Peep Jon Stewart's razor sharp commentary on how the GOP continues to get it wrong, wrong, wrong with black voters. And Latinos. And Asians. Today on The Kim Brown Show: Fox News host Sean Hannity welcomed a roomful of black conservatives to whine about how persecuted they are by black liberals. Pause.  I play some of their comments and lambasted them accordingly.  In case you missed the program, here it goes.  I even left Dr. Ben Carson alone lol. Also, Senator Rand Paul made a rare appearance in front of a black audience.  He spoke at the prestigious Howard University, in front of a group of very engaged audience.  I also attended.  Peep the entire speech. and question-and-answer session here.  It is worth watching.

Today on The Kim Brown Show: The civil rights of gay Americans has been political ammunition for those who oppose and support same-sex marriage.  The advocacy group, GLAAD, announced that former President Bill Clinton will be the recipient of the first-ever, "Advocate for Change" award. Pause. Then, pause some mo'.  While slightly commendable that Mr. Clinton has now come out fully in support of gay marriage, it seems as if GLAAD is suffering from short-term memory loss about which president signed laws restricting their rights and which president actually took political risk to ensure gay equality. Okay. Also, the state of Maryland is advancing a mostly progressive agenda these days.  What's the latest on decriminalizing marijuana and medicinal use for the coveted cannabis? I'm joined by Jonas Dawson and Brian Cambrel, the Executive Director and Deputy Director of the North Central Maryland chapter of NORML to track the status of a number of bills proposed in the state legislature pertaining to marijuana. If you're a smoker in MD, this one's for you. Lastly, I stumbled upon an article by Salon.com's Joan Walsh, called "How to Talk About White People".  Yup.  Since I ate up black conservatives yesterday, it was only right for white liberals to get some today. Enjoy!

Today on The Kim Brown Show: Sean Hannity leads off my program by whining about how black conservatives are sooo vilified and mocked. Somebody call the waaah-mbulance! I address Dr. Ben Carson, who was a HERO to black Marylanders and who is now proving his political ineptitude with his grotesque comments regarding same-sex marriage.  Rep. Don Young's comments about Latinos being "wetbacks", ummm....yeah....and definitely hell naw. Also, the Exxon oil spill in Mayflower, Arkansas is not being covered well by the mainstream media.  Glen Hooks is the Senior Campaign Representative for the Sierra Club in Arkansas.  He told me that a meeting was being held at the public high school with Exxon officials and residents in the area, and the local media were denied access. Plus, this pipe that ruptured in Arkansas is a fraction of the size of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.  The tar sands oil from Canada is extremely dirty and extremely difficult to clean up.  Tune in to listen how this is being handled in the "Natural State".

 TKBS PODCAST MARCH 29 2013 [AUDIO] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:07

Today on The Kim Brown Show: President Obama hosted families of victims of gun violence at the White House.  All the proposed gun control measures after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary have stalled.  I'm with the President, in the sense that something should be done.  Are these dead kids the price we pay for our liberty.  My guest on this topic is the Reverend Kenn Blanchard, host of "The Urban Shooter" podcast.  While I appreciated Rev. Blanchard's perspective on this issue, I highly disagreed with him. Respectfully. Also, I touched on the story of Sherry West and the tragic killing of her 13 month old son.  Ms. West alleges she was pushing her son in a stroller in Brunswick, Georgia, when she was appraoched by two teens who attempted to rob her.  She was shot in the leg (though she didn't realize she had been shot) and her baby was horrifically shot in the face.  After watching a couple of interviews that West has given, coupled with a story where West's daughter says her mother has mental problems and has been inquiring about insurance policies.  In addition, the police have said very little.  The young men identified by West as the shooter and accomplice, were only identified by West herself.  This incident happened in broad daylight. No one else saw this? I'ont know.  One name rings in my head regarding this story: Susan Smith. Finally, another young black and UNARMED teenager was murdered by the New York Police Department. 16 year old Kimani Gray was adjusting his pants, when he was shot several times by the police (including three times in the BACK).  After his death, a number of vigils turned confrontational as NYPD's finest showed up in riot gear.  The founder of the Stop Mass Incarcerations Network, Carl Dix, is back on the show to talk about how this investigation is being handled and how Kimani's family has been harassed by the cops.

Today on The Kim Brown Show: Hear the first audio of me being shouted down at the "Trump the Race Card" panel held at CPAC on Friday, March 15th.  Check my exclusive clips from K. Carl Smith's "Frederick Douglass republican" presentation and where Self-proclaimed segregationist Scott Terry was allowed to pontificate for nearly a minute before asking his question, "why can't we be segregated?" My guests are Kevin Dotson and Katy Jordan, the producers of the documentary "Black Tea".  They captured the exclusive footage of my exchange with KCarl Smtih (Frederick Douglass Republicans) and Scott Terry (self-proclaimed segregationist).  Some have said Terry was verbally reprimanded by the audience after his "Douglass should have thanked his slave master" comments.  I ask you to listen to the audio and judge for yourself. Lenny McAllister also joined the conversation to discuss Republican shortcomings with their "efforts" to recruit voters of color.  I asked Lenny about how easy or difficult it is to be a black conservative and why the language used towards black liberals is condescending.

Today on The Kim Brown Show: Hugo Chavez, the fiery and defiant President of Venezuela, died on March 5th from complications related to cancer.  Mr. Chavez was no friend to the U.S. government, so consequently, the media coverage of his passing has been spate and insufficient.  Admittedly, I also know little about the controversial leader, but it was this speech to the United Nations General Assembly in 2006 that made me a fan. My guest today is Jamila Aisha Brown.  She wrote a brilliant piece for Ebony.com about Chavez's black and indigenous roots.  I was expecting the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr. to speak about attending the funeral of his friend, however, he had a scheduling conflict.  This was a fascinating discussion and you will absolutely learn something about the African diaspora in Latin America.

 TKBS PODCAST MARCH 9 2013 [AUDIO] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:28

Today on The Kim Brown Show: Senator Rand Paul's epic filibuster over whether the Obama administration has legal authority to order a drone strike on an American here in the homeland.  I was one of the few liberals to support Sen. Paul on this particular issue, but I point out how domestic terrorism has been authorized by the U.S. government upon certain groups, most memorably in Waco and in Philadelphia. Also, the "GOP Black Chick" forms a new PAC, called Conservative Melting Pot PAC.  Republicans took staggering losses among Latinos, Asians. blacks, and women.  Why hasn't the RNC undertaken this initiative themselves?  We take a few moments to laugh at their inadequacy. Plus, we take some time to mark the loss of the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez.

 TKBS PODCAST FEB 21 2013 [AUDIO] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:13

Today on The Kim Brown Show: The week in racism, sexism, and xenophobia -- as brought to you by conservatives!  Mississippi just ratified the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the one that bans slavery. 147 years waaay after the fact. Amazing! Plus, a black baby was smacked and called the n-word by a white man on an airplane!  Where are we at, people??  I tell the story of being called a nigger IN MY HOMETOWN and how I had to punch the woman in the mouth.  It beez like that sometimes. Rush Limbaugh discussed a story about a program at the University of Wisconsin that supposedly shames white people because of their whiteness. Huh? Read that story here. Acknowledging white supremacy is never a bad thing. Kudos to this university for being brave enough to do so.
