Wasn't going to do a show, but why not? The November Winter Meetings are just concluding and who are the Phillies looking at? There's a preview for next week's show with Gary 'Sarge' Matthews with his 'Few and Chosen' book on the Phils, and a vintage show within this one that talks about Rob Maadi's book on Mike Schmidt.
The offseason is a long one this year. We'll discuss who the Phillies should be looking at this year in the offseason. The Reading Phillies won't the the same team after last year? Supposedly, the Reading Phillies are changing their name and logo in two weeks. We're going to be talking with Gary Matthews on the show on the 18th of November. Is this the end of the Phillies 'dynasty' that they have held onto for 5 years, or will they be back in 2013... We'll wrap up what we though about the Phillies in 2012 with a ton of stats and our opinions about the Phillies season that left everyone a little flat.
This show is a look back at the teams we picked before the season this year, it's always fun to play the recording back and see who we liked in the preseason of the MLB, and here's the show. We picked a lot of the teams that are in the playoffs, with the Nationals being Rich's 'Surprise Pick' although he went on to say they wouldn't make the playoffs.
The Phillies now fall a full 5.0 GB in the wild card so, we've just switched topics and started remembering the 1970's Phillies on this show. Join Rich Baxter and Jim Mulry in the longest running independent webcast about the Phillies. #philliestalk
Despite the debacle in Houston, the Phillies are still trying for a Wild Card spot.
It's Labor Day 2012, the Phillies season is down to only a month left in the regular season now. The Phils are playing some 'hot' baseball down in Atlanta this weekend, and Jim and I are taking this weekend off from the live show, but in our place I've assembled an interview from Spring Training that I did with Chris Wheeler, longtime Phillies broadcaster about what we think about the 2012 season upcoming.
Into Labor Day we go, still 9.5 games back in 2012
We talk about Jimmy Rollins taking the record of most games at shortstop by a player. We talk about the Reds series that the Phillies are in right now, and yes, we have a winner in the contest for the DVD set from one of the listeners of the show.
