 My Paradigm Shift – Ep 20 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:22

Many times when you are close to just throwing your hands up and throwing the towel in. Providence will step in and slip a little gift into your hands. This happened last week for me and my struggle with raising a rebellious teen. Getting close to the end of my rope I started reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Affiliate . My eyes were opened to to the Pygmalion effect and the self fulling prophecy I now believe I was the cause of my sons rebellion to a greater part. I was not listening. I was putting my biases on him and was not accepting him for the person he was. I was fighting his battle for self-identity, he is wanting to be accepted, by his mother and me, and I was telling him that my love was conditional. If he didn’t conform I was not going to love him. The absolute wrong message I was trying to convey. So I am changing a goal I set because I have found something that will help me achieve that one goal but it is easier if I understand how to listen to people better. So the apply three lessons from “How to Win Friend and Influence People” is now going to be apply the first three principles of Highly effective people. Podcast Dojo I going great as of now three episodes are out, and being received pretty well in my estimates.

Rumors, Lack of Information and Too Much Sharing – Ep 18 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:09

Work has taken me away from my passion but not forever. I was down in Pecos, Texas for a little under 2 weeks and then find out that the cancer of business has struck my place of employment. Now it  didn’t kill the company, only had a small panic where we lost about 5 people in a three days that has a tendency to really cause a scare but the lack of information for the employees is the basis of the rumors. The lack of communication from the employees also doesn’t help the problem. Here is a place someone can step up and be a leader. With this particular test I failed miserably, I was partaking in the rumor mill instead of finding a solution and presenting it to the boss. This point I have taken to heart and will do better next time. Now, I also found out that I probably shouldn’t of shared my thoughts with The youngest one in my views of her friend. I was not too impressed with the tales of woe and hardship she was presenting to my daughter and from the reactions I got I would have to say I over did it a bit. I am not sure if I got that lesson fully I will probably screw that up a few more times before I get it right. We also have an update with Jaybird and his clueless rebellion. He is still trying to point out that Mom and Dad are total idiots and is hell bent on doing the exact opposite of he is told. I understand that yes he has to learn but at the same time if he screws up and get into trouble then it is not our fault. It is the person who breaks the rules fault. Again I understand that this is a learning curve and we are just hoping to keep him in school long enough to graduate.

 Teen Trust – Ep 15 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:17

Teens, They want to do their own thing. They often do the right thing but then they do the wrong choice and wonder how we know. Many teens will claim to not know it was wrong but I will let the cat out of the bag, teens, if you are reading this…  When you’re hiding something and it shows. When you hide something it is because, deep down, you know it is wrong. Well my rebellious teen is on a mission to take any indication of trust and take a sledgehammer to it. In other words he doesn’t want to just break the trust he is out to vaporize it. Now it is obvious that I have no clue as to handle this I am doing so in a buffoonish bumbling manner that causes me to only hope that I am not destroying a relationship down the road that we both will need. I am learning that you cant teach teens anything. You cant even advise them is anyway. Because they will do just the opposite you almost have to treat them as a mental patient and just try to keep them from hurting themselves. At least that is how it feels. Is that how it really is? I dont fully think so. I have some thoughts on the topic that I will give in an up coming post. So what else is happening in the Entrepreneur world? Lots realising that if I am going to get Project:Kick up off the ground I will have to foce myself to write the articles that are needed.so SHort goal is being created to write 4 articles so that they can be released once a week and that way I am able to write more articles with the minimum of one a week. (I believe that this is a very reasonable goal.)

 Time Crunch – Ep 14 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:36

So Much to do and so little time to do it. How does a person actually manage to get all that is needing to be done.. well, done? Here recently I found out one small key to this trick and that is have a time constraint. If you know that there is something needing to be done whether it is in the form of a goal or a task that is needing to be completed the best way to make sure it gets finished is to have a deadline. I found this out recently because of how work was turning out I was not able to get many of the tasks that are needed to be done even started much less finished. Then I had one day off only one before that madness of work started up again. This deadline of I have to get something done and done now! was my motivator, that fire under my seat, if you will. Because of this motivation I was able to get a lot done that was desperatly needing to be done I also talk about what is happening at work and how that is affecting Project Kick. Why work is starting develop a slight irritation but nothing more than that.

 Texas and the Son – Ep 13 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:17

Wow, Texas was not happy I left. It punished me in a few different ways one being that my phone died. If you know anything about me I have to have my phone to keep up with the news. I am a news junkie and this last week was hard on America and the fact that I was not able to reach any news of what was going on, but I did get it fixed This episode I also talk about Where I am at in my goals are we on track or do I need a little adjustment.  * Grow all of my podcasts by 200 listeners – I dont really know how to really track my listeners * Get to Know 20 of my listeners – Realizing that I actually dont know how to engage my listeners but a small hint showed up today * Interview 20 people – Falling behind on this * Make $50  off of a Podcast – current amount $0.00 * Add 2 more Podcasts to the Lineup – One down one more to go * Buy a New Mixer – nope * Buy 2 new Microphones – Not yet * Find a Church – Gotta work on that one * Make 3 new Friends in 3 different important fields of my life. financial, podcasting, business – lots of work to do here. I actually will have to figure out how to build a relationship from scratch. * Visit Every State Park within a 2 hour radius – This should start happening now that it is somewhat warming up * Create a budget that will support a lean earning season – In process * Start positioning myself to start my own business – New podcast to fall in line with this * Go to New Media Expo – still working on the details * Start getting information for CPAC – Still working on this * Start a Meet up for  The Hayseed Report – Still working on it * Start a Meet up for Self Help and Self Improvement – Still working on it * Learn and apply 3 lessons from Dale Carnegie’s book “How to win friends and influence people” – will start after I finish quite I also talk about how being the parent of an American Teenage boy is one of the biggest frustrations I am going through.

When Grumpy Smurf Moves In – Ep 12 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:30

There are times that, no matter how hard you try, the grumpies set up shop and you can not get rid of them. This episode is one of those times, I talk about my frustration of being a dad and dealing with a teenager who has no desire nor will to aspire to anything higher than just hanging out.  There is the event of where my son just opens up his whole collection of “I don’t care” and pours it over us for being too strict though he is able to sleep till 10 but often stretches that to noon or later. Though I have lowered my standards and expectations. I talk about how my frustrations have built and it is time for me to vent them. I feel the toxin of resentment building and I need to get it out before something happens that will permanently damage our relationship. So, I vented to you good folks, my listeners.  I realise that this is actually a form or resistance or one of those potholes, that I talked about before. I understand that the ideas I have for what my son is or isn’t going to do is not rational at times. Though I may see the potential my son has, I may see the possibility of him being a successful architect or anything else the frustration is that When he says his plan is to not have one, to work, buy a house right out of High school, and just hang out is not feasible nor a plan. I have portions of this podcast dedicated to the plan, Your goals, your mission. So as you can see and hear on this episode vent all over the place and I thank you folks for listening and if you have any hint tips pointers thoughts that you would like to share please post in the comments below.

We Have Caught The Potter – Ep 11 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:24

Talk about my adventure in trucking and how I got caught doing 63 mph in a 45 zone and by the grace of God I was able to get out of it. I also share the reason for this podcasts graphic of My goofy mug and my plans for making this a T-Shirt for a good friend of mine. I believe that he will like it as much as I do. I also talk about Commentary tracts, why I like them I talk about the reflecting on how a person will have such grand views of how their kids will turn out only to find that you will actually try to fight to keep them on the track of the path they choose back when they were 5 years old.   That pan is obviously not going to work because a kid is gonna grow up and have a different view and life plan for themselves. Then there are the podcasts that I like. I have several different podcasts  for different interests. These interest are easily put into four different play lists. These play lists are Learning, Podcasting, Politics, and The Funny. The learning and podcasting  lists are the two I spend the most time listening to. If you have a podcast you like let me know I am always up for a new show I usually give it 3 episodes and if it doesn’t catch by then I normally just don’t listen anymore.   The Full list 48 Days Podcast – Dan Miller All American Radio – Conservative radio Android Central – Android Phone tech podcast Beyond the To-Do List – Personal productivity Brass Balls Radio – Use to be conservative but they have given up on their politic’s and have gone lifestyles Building A Better Dave – Self Help Comedy Bang Bang – Comedy The Tech Guy – Tech guy Music Radio Creative – Podcast on Jingles Podcast Answer Man – Podcast on Podcasting Podcasters Round Table – Ray Ortega and his round table Hollywood Babble -On – Hollywood news and the funny Smodcast – The Original Kevin Podcast Smoviemakers – Movie podcast School of Podcasting Morning Announcements – Podcast in podcasting by Dave Jackson S.T.A.R.T – Start Talking And Recording Today – Podcast on podcasting Strickly Right – Conservative podcast Struggling Entrepreneur –  Business podcast Adam Corolla Show – Comedy and news The Audacity To Podcast – Podcast on podcast

 Nervous About 40 – Ep 10 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:36

We get our Episode numbers correct. I talk about hitting 40 and getting a bit nervous about the fact that I am now middle age and I haven’t created my own business yet, and my current job is getting busy again. I talk about the frustrations of getting older, the pains in the knees.

 Look out for Potholes – Ep 9 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:42

You can do all the planing you want but sometimes there are potholes that are out of sight. Then before you know it you are smack dab in the middle of a problem that you didn’t think of before hand. How do you plan for the unforeseen? Well, I can say find a good clairvoyant, or you plan the best you can and then realize that there are problems and learn from them. This is how many, if not the majority of, people actually learn about a particular path in life. Some are smarter. They seek out people who have made that very trip before, and find out what pitfalls are there that haven’t been thought of and how to avoid them. The old business owner who has been in your field for 42 years is a wealth of untapped information. They have been around the block more times than you can count and can almost predict what is going to happen as you start out on your path. Find that wealth of information, that Clairvoyant and learn everything you can.  Even the most insightful business man will not see all trip hazards or unknown trip ups. So, what happens if you stumble? I would look at how do you deal with failure. You can take anything that doesn’t go as planned and attribute it as a form of failure. You take failure as a means of life preparing you for success. So, these potholes in the road of life are just that, different trials for success. Are you man, or woman, enough to deal with the challenge? Can you overcome whatever obstacle you are faced with? If you can keep the right attitude and line of thought you can and will succeed. Then again you might just decide that the challenge is too big for you and you give up and then we knwo just how good you really are. Comment below let me know what you think.

Life and the Turning Dime – Ep 8 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:03

Life, it does throw some great curve balls. You come home pumped up because you had a glorious epiphany/Eureeka moment and you get home and you discover the lowest life known to man is heading towards your house. An entity that is so vile and depraved that it has to lie so that the workers are able to sleep at night. Well that happened today with me, and it sort of fits in with the topic I will be giving next week dealing with unexpected events. This episode ends up being a little on the raw side, which is ok to a point but I hope that it doesn’t reflect badly upon your views of me.

 The Success of Failure – Ep 7 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:25

Success, everyone wants it. Very few obtain it. Why? Well… They are afraid to fail. They think that there is too much on the line. If they don’t succeed they will have to go through the uncomfortable experience of learning what they did wrong. So many people don’t experience their visions of success because they are afraid.  Why not fail you failed all through growing up. How doo you think you learned how to walk? You fell down on your backside many many times, often rather rough landings. You eventually learned to put one foot in front of the other and was walking out the door. If you ask any person who has become successful in your eyes if they ever failed they will say  YES!  and proceed to explain what their failures were and what they learned from them. Dan Miller author of the 48 Days to the Work You Love  talks a lot in his podcast  about when he failed so bad that he actually lost his house, his car, and everything else. He learned that his business smarts were not quite as big as he thought and learned he needed to listen to his wife and the clues he was receiving. One big clue was that he was not able to get financing The greatest example of succeeding from failure is Abraham Lincoln. If you want to learn about somebody who didn’t quit, look no further. Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown. He could have quit many times – but he didn’t and because he didn’t quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country. Lincoln was a champion and he never gave up. Here is a sketch of Lincoln’s road to the White House: * 1816: His family was forced out of their home. He had to work to support them. * 1818: His mother died. * 1831: Failed in business. * 1832: Ran for state legislature – lost. * 1832: Also lost his job – wanted to go to law school but couldn’t get in. * 1833: Borrowed some money from a friend to begin a business and by the end of the year he was bankrupt. He spent the next 17 years of his life paying off this debt. * 1834: Ran for state legislature again – won. * 1835: Was engaged to be married, sweetheart died and his heart was broken. * 1836: Had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months. * 1838: Sought to become speaker of the state legislature – defeated. * 1840: Sought to become elector – defeated. * 1843: Ran for Congress – lost. * 1846: Ran for Congress again – this time he won – went to Washington and did a good job. * 1848: Ran for re-election to Congress – lost. * 1849 Sought the job of land officer in his home state – rejected. * 1854: Ran for Senate of the United States – lost. * 1856: Sought the Vice-Presidential nomination at his party’s national convention – got less than 100 votes. * 1858: Ran for U.S. Senate again – again he lost. * 1860: Elected president of the United States. “Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.”  ― Truman Capote  So go out and try something new you will fail the first few times but eventually you will get it right.
