Listen to what happens when we have a real broadcaster in the house. Olympic athlete and NBC color commentator Kevin Rees Barnett (Olympics 2000, 2004) stops by while in town for the Women’s Collegiate Volleyball Final 4. We learn so much, like what it feels like to just miss the medal round. We find out what types of debauchery goes on in the Olympic Village. And what Beach Volleyball players are doing under those towels. We celebrate the most amazing example of vigilante justice, and it happened right here on the C-Line in West Seattle. What? How did Macklemore come and go – three sold out show, no less – and we missed them all? It’s not like people who went didn’t let us know with incessant selfies. We have a theory about Macklemore fans, and we share it on the show. We also offer more proof that God loves irony. Hey, his (or her) favorite artist is Alanis afterall. And we steal one of Portland’s amazing musical treasures – Moody Little Sister – for a brillaint folk set this morning. Moody Little Sister, you should know, is made up of Naomi Hooley and Rob Stoup. She is from Alaska, he from Oregon. So, it makes sense they meet here in Seattle with us. Take a listen to these two, you will likey, and want to take a selfie of yourself at their next show to prove your hipness.
Despite Washington State’s ranking as the state that is least sweariest, we’ve discovered the only way people pay attention to us is if we swear more. Darn it! And it turns out we love Paul Allen for his looks, not his money. Our favorite comedian Tommy Johnagin re-joins the podcast (when will he learn?) to celebrate his girlfriend’s 40th birthday today, or tomorrow or whenever her birthday is. She’s ancient. A new show debuts on KSTW Channel 11 tomorrow night, and every Saturday night at 11PM, Band in Seattle. It puts a spotlight on Seattle’s endless lineup of talented bands (damn, why didn’t we come up with that idea?!). Conrad Denke, the creator of Band in Seattle joins us, as does one of the bands being showcased – Something in the Trees. After a one week hiatus because of a sidetrip to the mean streets of Detroit, Marty is ready to save this blighted city. He has extra energy, because Seattle don’t need saving anymore! Gay mayor, maybe a socialist City Council member, hot damn! This town is about as hip as they get. (Sorry Detroit, you’ll be back one day.) Add to that the effervescent energy of Seattle’s Radio Raheem, a band that is making it’s second appearance on the podcast in honor of it’s newly released CD “Raheem Rising.” Radio Raheem’s CD Release Party is set for Saturday, November 16, 2013, at The White Rabbit.
