Every aspect of our lives involves making choices. Sometimes our choices are simple, quick, and easy. Sometimes they are complex, slow, and difficult. This message is discussing the choice of forgiveness.
What are the effects of following after Jesus, and how would that change our lives? Is it possible that He's offering us something that we desperately need yet haven't figured out how to get?
The word community has been applied in a variety of contexts throughout the years. Depending on where you have lived and at which point in history, it has usually described the group of people you are living among. In our context today, it could be our neighborhood, our city, or even our church.
2000 years ago Jesus started the Church. He ended His time on earth by passing the baton onto His followers, therefore, empowering them to lead. And here we are today. His invitation is still for us to become truly empowered believers, not just spectators on the sidelines. Is your faith empowered?
Preparing to GO! 03/22/2009
Presumption happens when we decide to take matters into our own hands instead of letting God lead and patiently waiting for His timing. We presume to know what Jesus wants before we've taken the time to listen to His voice. Then we rush into thins that He would never want us to do. Are you patient or presumptuous?
We'll examine what a life looks like when the main pursuit is the pleasure of wealth and extravagance. When you are trying to make money at any cost, the means to reach the end can often be dark and manipulative. It's even more repulsive when members of the church decide that indulgence is the goal.
Who really is in control of your life. If you think it is you, then you will never have the ability to hear what God is saying to you with a right perspective. But what if you were the backseat driver instead and decided to let God take control?
