Welcome to this, the first podcast from the blog "The Gentleman Audiophile", hosted at gentleman audiophile.blogspot.com. In this podcast I introduce a few concepts and then get straight into an interview with my friend and fellow audiophile (and videophile) IWC, who is fortunate enough to own two separate and very distinct hifi systems. We discuss the upstairs system at length - built around valve (tube) amplifiers and Living Voice horn loudspeakers - and go through some loudspeaker history, why we are fans of early Krell but not the latest series of CAST-equipped amps nor the complexities of the Krell SACD player front panel, which preamps IWC uses upstairs and why he found the Croft Micro to be superior to his Audio Research SP10. I hope you enjoy listening to this amateur production, and I also hope we get slicker at recording and producing as we gain experience!
