Podcasts:

George Jones - 'It Ain't Gonna Worry My Mind'. From The 1996 Album 'I Lived To Tell It All'. He was and shall always be the greatest singer of Country Blues that ever lived. As simply an American vocalist, there have been very few any better. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 177

George Jones was one of my most significant musical influences within a craft I desired to practice. The messages began filtering in from Jackie Wilson at 7 years of age, Al Jolson at 8, Ray Charles & Sinatra at 9, Rev. Gary Davis at 12, Zimmerman at 13, Phil Ochs at 14. Then along came Jones tones

The Godz - 'Radar Eyes' - Heralded As The Worst Band Of All Time By Some and Seminal Pioneers By Others - From The 1967 ESP Disk LP 'Godz 2' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 129

Godz. Not the metal deal that stirred things up in Ohio in ’76. Nah. These cats were addressing a primitive structure back in the NY heat of ’66, way before the revolution of Punk and after the eerie experiments of John Cage. Lester Bangs wrote about them, keeping the Godly conversation alive.

Freddie Scott - 'Are You Lonely For Me Baby' - One Of The Best Soul Splendor Sound Sender's To Ever Hit The Big Town Delivers A Special Package Of R&B As Written and Produced By The Legendary Bert Berns | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 192

Freddie has been a cult fave since 1963 when his stunning vocal on the Gerry Goffin/ Carole King penned ‘Hey Girl’ hit the AM wavelengths. Soon thereafter, the legendary writer and producer Bert Berns invested his craft with Mr. Scott’s creating this marvelous time tested production.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac- A History Of The Peter Green Origins Of The Group, Plus!! The Elmore James Inspired 'I'm Worried' As Performed Live On British Television In 1968 Featuring An Intro By Alan Price! | File Type: video/vnd.objectvideo | Duration: 414

When I first heard about Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac LP back in ’68 my anticipation was minor. After spinning the platter on the Epic label just once I recognized the difference between this band of blue gypsies and the wide window of wannabees frequenting the blues scene. Dig the groovy grit!

Kinky Friedman- His Self Titled 1974 LP On ABC Records- Side One - A Richieboy Record Party! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1108

Side One: 1) Rapid City South Dakota - 2) Popeye The Sailor Man - 3) Homo Erectus - 4) Lover Please - 5) Wild Man From Borneo - 5) Before All Hell Breaks Loose

Kinky Friedman- His 1974 Self Titled LP on ABC Records- Side Two- A Richieboy Record Party! The Needle Has Landed and Until The Tone Arm Attains Lift Off, Everything Is On The Record! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 911

When KInky traveled forth extolling the audacity of 'They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore', he pretty well let us know that he was not about to swerve along the edge of an inner meaning intrinsic to the newly crowned Country Rock genre. This is bright, literate and wild record making at its best

Charlie Parker- 'Slow Boat To China'- Live Radio Broadcast, Dec. 11, 1948 Featuring Miles Davis On Trumpet, Al Haig On Piano, Tommy Potter On Bass and The Great Max Roach On Drums- From The ESP Disk LP, 'The Comprehensive Charlie Parker' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 300

He spoke a language unknown to most but one that continues to be spoken in swingin’ homes and clubs all over the planet. He is “Bird’ and this is his luminescent lingo.

Raging Bull- 'LaMotta The Contender'- This Clip Features Jake LaMotta As He Counterpunches DeNiro's Performance In 'Raging Bull'- Jake Will Be 91 In July and He Rages On | File Type: video/vnd.objectvideo | Duration: 155

He was one of the toughest cats to ever bloody a prize ring. He was also a mob controlled pug who took one dive we are certain of, struck women and seemingly had little problem with underage sexual encounters. So how does such a life provoke a masterpiece? It's as easy as Marty Scorsese.

Dick Gregory- 'Learning to Live'- Recorded Live At Southampton College, Southampton, New York, 1969 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 447

Dick is a final, vital voice from a heritage of higher ground night club comedy and College concert messaging. Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl and George Carlin are the prominent names associated with this genre. But Greg was the master and for reasons this cut identifies, too dangerous for prime time.

P.F. Sloan- 'Let Me Be'- From The Composer of 'Eve of Destruction' Comes His Rendition of The Song He Wrote and Made Popular By The Turtles- From The 1972 LP 'Raised On Records' On Mums Records | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 162

Most of us know P.F. through the Barry McGuire recording of ‘Eve of Destruction’. There was much more to this curious cat. Whether it is ‘Let Me Be’, ‘You Baby’ or ‘Where Were You When I Needed You’ this guy had our number when it came to a catchy number. Dig this great 3 minutes of ’72 Folky Soul.

Jerry Lee Lewis- 'The Mercy of A Letter'- One of 'The Killers' Finest Country Pop Performances From His 1976 Mercury LP 'Who's Gonna Play This Old Piano?' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 208

His Balls of Fire had chilled but Jerry's heart remained a furnace as he became a fave with Country fans from '66 until this day. The emotive display's on his Mercury LP's evidenced a man willing to wear his blood on his sleeve when it came to life and love. I thank him for his courage.

Langston Hughes- 'The Negro Speaks of Rivers'- Poet, Novelist, Playwright and The First African American To Support Himself As A Writer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 132

Langston Hughes wrote from 1926 to 1967. In that time he wrote more than 60 books, including poems, novels, short stories, plays, children's poetry, musicals, operas, and autobiographies. His art was the craft of Black as he composed from experience and wisdom open wide. Langston Hughes-1902-1967

Elvis Impersonator Blues- A Richieboy Record Party! The Rare 'Elvis Impersonator Blues' LP On The Helvis Label, 1995- Featuring Saucer Elvis, B.F Snow, Con Archer, Bruce Channel, Major Bill Smith, Peter Singh and Billy Joe Ward- Side Two | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1179

The liner notes for this album read 'I'm still all shook up!! And it was this record that shook me up'-Elvis Presley, 1995. I dreamed I saw The King last night, alive as you or me. 'But El' says I, 'you are decades dead'. 'I never died' said he. 'I never died' said he. Enjoy this vinyl visitation

Elvis Impersonator Blues- A Richieboy Record Party!- The Rare 'Elvis Impersonator Blues' LP On The Helvis Label, 1995 Featuring Peter Singh, Ringo, Lux and Ivy Of The Cramps, Gene Summers, Jimmy Ellis and Others- Side One | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1149

Elvis is in our bloodstream. Yup. Call it an infection or call it Amazing Grace, the man arrived, never left and like Sinatra will never face an expiration date. Maybe the lesson is that death is only dying when there is nothing melodic to recall in a life. HeIl. I guess we are all Elvis. Dig?

Newport Broadside- Topical Songs At The Newport Folk Festival, 1963- Jim Garland, Ed McCurdy, Phil Ochs, Peter LaFarge, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan- The Original Vanguard Vinyl Release- Side Two | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1401

The Topical Song took on a whole new meaning once Dylan got through with it. He elevated the game to a new zone of abstract splendor. And then along came Ochs who combined the skill of a journalist with the tongue of a poet, LaFarge who invoked Native American heart and Baez who seduced the day.
