The Guestlist With Sean Cannon
Summary: The Guestlist is full of performances, guest DJ sets and casual, in-depth conversations with folks from all over the pop culture spectrum. It’s like making a new friend at the end of the bar — then finding out they were in your favorite band. From Louisville Public Media. +

If you don't like professional wrestling in any way, shape or form — you're doing it wrong. That's just all there is to it. It doesn't mean you have to watch every (or any) WWE event. It just means if you look hard enough, there's at least some aspect of it that will appeal to you. Don't believe me? Ask Colt Cabana. If he can't sell you on wrestling, then I'm not sure you have a soul.
I'm sad, because I lost a chunk of my conversation with Bryan Ferry. But thankfully I managed to save most of the jazz talk. Getting an insight into how Ferry's musical interests have come full circle was fascinating — especially since his love affair with jazz began at such a young age.

There aren't many people — much less comedians in the public eye — who are willing to candidly discuss their professional failings. That said, Chris Gethard is an exception to the rule, and it was pretty inspiring to see how those career hardships have shaped his worldview in a positive way. Plus he loves artisanal soda, which I can get behind.
For most of his life, Bob Mould didn't spend much time dwelling on the past. However, the last few years have been a little different. An autobiography, reissues, a classic album tour; pretty retrospective. It was interesting to pick Bob's brain about the experience of finally cracking open the past and exploring it. Plus we talked at length about his love of professional wrestling, and that's never a bad thing.
I'm still giddy about this one. There are so many things I want to say about having the opportunity to speak with Dick Cavett (Dick Cavett!!) for my 150th episode. But instead of writing 3,000 words, I'll just let you listen to it.
TED Talks are Ryan Singer's religion. There's also a lot left over from his Catholic upbringing, as well as a fascination with transcendental meditation. It's tough to figure out how all of those things could work together. But after talking to Ryan about love, work, hell, authenticity and CB radios, it all starts to make sense.
During my conversation with Radiolab co-creator Jad Abumrad, I had a chance to explore his approach to storytelling. Turns out, it has more to do with film than it does with radio - which starts to make sense when you look at his life pre-Radiolab. Jad also took some interest in my love of The Beach Boys, because neither of us are head over heels in love with The Beatles.
This may sound trite/disingenuous/hollow/ridiculous coming from a white guy who grew up in a rural area, but Chuck D was something of a hero to me. So it was great to hear him talk about sticking to his guns after three decades in the rap game. I didn't have much time to chat with Chuck, but I think I got an idea of what helps him accomplish that feat.
Last time Kurt was on the show, we talked a lot about punk rock and TV. We hit on those subjects this time around, but the focus is more on his stand-up career and what it takes to decompartmentalize your life while on stage. Kurt also explains how a simple tweet eventually led to a record deal.
