Refilling ink cartridges can be a handy thing to know how to do if you like to use fountain pens on a regular basis. I show you the tools you need and all the tricks to do it quickly and easily.
The Pen Plaza is the Goulet's latest free online tool. We've taken custom images of every model of pen we have and put them in an interactive tool so you can easily compare the size of three pens side-by-side. This video tutorial shows you how to get the most out of the Pen Plaza.
Monteverde's new One Touch Engage is a refillable rollerball click pen with a stylus on top, able to be used on your touch electronic devices. It's a pretty darn cool pen, and I show it to you here and write with it next to a Noodler's rollerball and J. Herbin rollerball.
Have you ever tried flipping over your pen to write with the nib upside down? It's not always ideal, but it can work well if you need to write really small or if you have super-absorbent paper that you want to write on without it feathering and bleeding like crazy.
This video covers a variety of topics about nib sizes, and what designates conventional nibs from stubs, italics, obliques, and flex nibs. Nib Size Abbreviations (0:33), Common Online Fountain Pen Abbreviations (1:55), Japanese vs. Western Nibs (2:25), The Nib Nook, comparing writing samples (3:03), Stub and Italic Nibs (3:52), Writing with a Stub (5:22), Oblique Nibs (6:16), Flex Nibs (7:22)
Platinum has resurrected some of it's nibs we haven't seen in a while: a soft-fine, extra-fine, and ultra-extra-fine for the 3776 Black Century pen. Here I write with them all and compare them to a TWSBI 540 extra-fine and Lamy extra-fine.
I've compiled my thoughts on a lot of the very basic questions about bottled fountain pen ink, enjoy! How long does ink last (in usage or storage)? (:36), How much does a bottle of ink cost? (1:42), How do cartridges compare to bottles (for economy)? (2:04), How do you store ink? (2:47), Can you reuse ink (dump it back in the bottle)? (3:25), Can you mix inks? (4:02)
The Dolce Vita is Delta's signature pen, and while I have one in my possession I wanted to show it off. I'm impressed!
Ink cartridges are a very convenient way to use fountain pens, and are something that most new users run into right away (since they usually come with a new pen). But if you don't know how to use it, it can be a little confusing. So that's why I created this video.
The results are in! After the June 2012 poll about whether or not to change the formula of Noodler's Liberty's Elysium, we've come to a conclusion....
We just became retailers for Stipula, Delta, Conklin, and Monteverde, and so I wanted to give a grand tour of some of the new stuff that came in. We have a bunch of pens and about 25 new inks (bringing us up to about 675 now).
There are several filling mechanisms used in fountain pens today. Here I show you how to fill each of 4 types, as well as the pros/cons of each one: Cartridge/Converter, Eyedropper, Piston, Vacuum.
In a good faith effort to reformulate Noodler's Liberty's Elysium to improve its water resistance, there have been some tradeoffs. I'd love to hear what you think as I compare the new version to the original.
We're not ones to rest on our laurels, and even though we're chugging along nicely, we have big plans for the future. Chase is giving 12 grants to small businesses who do some cool stuff, and we plan to do cool stuff! We need your votes to get us there, so that's why we're making this vid!
Proper pen maintenance is a very overlooked aspects of fountain pen usage, so I created this video to help new and experienced fountain pen users alike to understand why cleaning their pens is so important, so they can get the most out of their performance.
