This months podcast takes us back to the "bar band" sound of the Grateful Dead. Mickey had left the band, and Pigpen had yet to take ill, and the band was as tight and powerful as a 5 piece ensemble could get. Really good stuff. I picked this show for the infamous "Dave & Roz" story in the review section of Deadbase V. For our halftime show we bring you The Doors from their 1970 Tour. Enjoy! GRATEFUL DEAD - April 5, 1971 Manhattan Center New York, NY SET 1: Cold Rain & Snow, Me & Bobby McGee, The Rub, Loser, Playin' in the Band, Big Railroad Blues, Me & My Uncle, Big Boss Man, China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider, Casey Jones HALF-TIME: (The Doors, Absolutely Live 1970) Who Do You Love?, Alabama Song > Back Door Man > Love Hides > Five to One, When the Music's Over SET 2: Truckin > Drums > Other One > Wharf Rat, Sugar Magnolia, I'm A King Bee, Bertha, Deal, Sing Me Back Home, Not Fade Away > Goin Down the Road Feelin' Bad > Not Fade Away, Turn On Your Lovelight SOURCE: Soundboard / Master Reel

This months podcast highlights the band at one of the best opportunities to that point that they could have turned on a whole bunch of folks all at once... and they kind of blew it. While not a horrible show, its rather uneven. Why release it? For the historical value alone of the Dead braving all kinds of elements and a fantastic Dark Star. For the "Filler", I make up for one bands uneven effort with another bands set of blazing intensity. I think it all will turn out OK for you guys! Enjoy the Ride to Woodstock ya'll. GRATEFUL DEAD August 16, 1969 Max Yasgars Farm Bethel, NY St. Stephen > Mama Tried, Dark Star > High Time, Turn on your Lovelight FILLER: Jimi Hendrix Experience (August 18, 1969 Bethel, NY) Message of Love, Hear My Train A Comn', Spanish Casttle Magic, Red House, Mastermind, Lover Man, Foxy Lady, Jam Back At The House, Izabella, Gypsy Woman, Fire, Voodoo Chile, Star Spangled Banner, Purple Haze, A Minor Jam ENCORE: Hey Joe SOURCE: Soundboard
