Pentecost launched a group of somewhat ignorant people into a realm of empowerment and revelation. They recognised that “this was that” that Jesus and the prophets pointed to in their prophetic language. The Holy Spirit fulfilled the requirement to be filled with God and equipped to do the work of Jesus in the same empowered manner. The people God were now the Church of God.
