Speaker: Ted BryantDate: January 9, 2022 Sometimes the pressure we’re under and the pace we’re going are just too much. Other people’s expectations for us—not to mention our own—build up to a point where we just can’t deal. So what happens? We shut down. We withdraw. Or we might self-sabotage to take control of the inevitable disappointment we see lurking just around the corner. Let’s take a step back from the pressure-cookers we often find ourselves in to realize that life doesn’t have to be this way. Living with a deep connection to Jesus doesn’t look like a straining, striving, pressure-filled race. Let’s look ahead and plan together for a year filled with love, hope, joy and peace instead.

Speaker: Riley VandevoordeDate: December 12, 2021Have you heard the invitation? It’s almost impossible to pick out from the cacophony of noise we’re surrounded by on a daily basis: phones chirping and buzzing, constant work deadlines, a to-do list as long as your arm and the constant demands of the Christmas season. But if you’re able to pause for a moment, to be still and quiet, you might hear God’s voice, inviting you to experience a different pace this Christmas. The pace of peace. We hope these services give you the space to breathe and remember: Peace is a person and fully available to all. To remember that this Christmas doesn’t have to be harried and hurried and strained. We can live at the pace of peace.

You’ve probably heard the hashtag #firstworldproblems, used when the internet goes out, or when the sound on a Zoom call fails, or when someone shows up to find the donut shop is all out of their favorite donut. Hopefully, all these modern annoyances are meant to prompt us to be grateful for all we do have and give us perspective when trivial things go wrong. But there are a few very real first world problems we think it’s time to talk about. Things that get in the way of us trusting God and demonstrating His love to a world so desperately seeking it. Join us for four weeks this fall as we talk about some common #firstworldproblems.
