Summary: Robert J. D'Agostino is currently Professor of Law at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, Georgia. From 1996 until 2000, he served as its President and Dean. Prior to service at John Marshall Law School, Professor D'Agostino was a tenured member of the faculty and Associate Dean at Delaware Law School and served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice (appointed by President Ronald Reagan). For eight years prior to joining John Marshall, Prof. D'Agostino conducted a national practice specializing in major business reorganizations under the bankruptcy code. His publications include contributions to books and treatises and articles dealing with bankruptcy, the rights of handicapped newborns, parental rights and most recently a book entitled Darwinism in the Classroom: Criticizing Orthodoxy and Surviving in the Current Environment. The oldest son of Italian immigrants, Professor D'Agostino was born and raised in New York City. He earned a B.A. and M.A. from Columbia University before working his way through Emory Law School where he earned a J.D. while teaching high school science followed by employment as a social worker. He is married to Claire, a clinical psychologist, and has three adult children and two grandchildren. Aside from a life-long interest in and two degrees related to science, Prof. D'Agostino is an avid bicyclist, outdoorsman, and baseball fan.
