Please join Leigh!@Lunch this week as Matt interviews author of The War Against Grammar, David Mulroy.  David Mulroy earned his Ph.D. in Classics at Stanford University. After graduating, he taught at Princeton University and, since 1973, at the University of Wisconsin.  Dr. Mulroy is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Scholars and Vice-President of the Wisconsin Association of Scholars.  In 1996, he received the Barry M. Gross Memorial Award from the National Association of Scholars for “distinguished service to the cause of academic reform” as founder and Director of the Certificate Program in the Study of Liberal Arts through Great Books at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Mulroy is the translator of Early Greek Lyric Poetry, Horace’s Odes and Epodes, and Catullus’ Poems.  His works include Politics and Great Books,  The War Against Grammar, and Alphabetic Literacy ands the Revitalization of the Liberal Arts. He served for four years as the humanities chair for Providence Classical School in Spring, Texas. He also served as the creative editor for Understanding the Times by David A. Noebel, and co-authored the Understanding the Times curriculum. Jeff recently published a worldview primer for students K-5. He has also published a collection of essays, poems and short stories entitled The Twelve Trademarks of Great Literature, and an introduction to worldviews based on the stories of Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde entitled The Deadliest Monster. Currently, Jeff is producing discussion guides for Worldview Academy’s website, TheGreatBooks.com. Each guide helps educators teach a classic work from the Christian perspective; works range from Homer’s Odyssey to John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Jeff’s articles have appeared in World, Teachers in Focus, and New Attitude, and have been broadcast on Charles Colson’s radio program, Breakpoint. Jeff teaches nation-wide at camps and conferences. Jeff’s wife, Linda, homeschools their youngest child and teaches Latin and Grammar at SCCS. Daniel joined the Senate in 2011 after winning election on November 2, 2010. After graduating from West Point with a B.S. in National Security and Public Affairs, Daniel was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Field Artillery. He later transitioned to reserve status and earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He began practicing in his family's firm in 2000. Daniel and his wife, Lydia, have three daughters. Later in the show Leigh will also be interviewing Jamie Radtke, candidate in the 2012 Senate race in Virginia.  Jamie Radtke is a CC Mom and was a past CC director.  In 2009, Jamie was swept up in the spontaneous grassroots movement reshaping the entire political landscape in America: the Tea Party. She became the President of Richmond Tea Party and Chairwoman of the Federation of Virginia Tea Party Patriots. As a result of her hard work in advancing the core principles of constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and virtue and accountability, her success has been recognized in a variety of ways. She received the National Sam Adams Alliance Award for the Tea Party; she was one of 20 conservative women highlighted in the recent Citizens United documentary Fire from the Heartland for her work to improve America; she was named by Style Weekly as one of Richmond’s Top 40 Under 40; and she has repeatedly interviewed with local and national media outlets, including FOX News, the Wall Street Journal, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch. In addition to being one of the country's leading public intellectuals, Professor Fish is an extraordinarily prolific author whose works include over 200 scholarly publications and books. While his research covers a variety of fields, Professor Fish has written for many of the country's leading law journals. including Stanford Law Review, Duke Law Journal, Yale Law Journal, University of Chicago Law Review, Columbia Law Review, and Texas Law Review. Stanley Fish is currently a professor of humanities and law at Florida International University, in Miami. In the Fall of 2011, he will be Oscar M. Ruebhausen Distinguished Senior Fellow and Visiting Professor of Law at Yale Law School. He has also taught at the University of California at Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, Duke University and the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is the author of 13 books, most recently “How to Write a Sentence,” a celebration of sentence craft and sentence pleasure; “Save the World On Your Own Time"; and “The Fugitive in Flight,” a study of the 1960s TV drama. His essays and articles have appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Harper's Magazine, Esquire, The Atlantic and The New York Times.
