A Simple Drum Room Mic Trick and Viewer Questions | File Type: text/plain | Duration: 14:43

So Sorry its been so long since the last episode. These last couple months have been some of the craziest ever. This Episode I share a really simple drum room mic trick I stumbled on to (which can also be used for other instruments) and answer some viewer questions about inconsistent bass levels, finding the money to put together a studio and the need for matched pairs on drum overheads. Dont forget you can follow me on twitter @RonanCMurphy To watch on your iphone or ipad, download the Mv4 version.

The Zoom H4N and Saint Mark’s Square as a live room. Pt. 1 | File Type: text/plain | Duration: 2:24

Part one of two: a special edition of Ronans Recording Show. I recently produced an album in Italy for the band, Riaffiora, that combined traditional recording with remote recording using a Zoom H4n hand held recorder. It allowed us to use Saint Marks Square in Venice as a live room, and other amazing locations. This episode is a link to a beautiful 12 minute documentary (English and Italian with sub-titles) by Massimo Toniato about the making of the album. The next episode will be a technical walk through about how we did it (and how you can easily use these techniques). Many non recording people seem to love this video so please forward to others. I strongly recommend watching with the 720 or 1080 HD viewing option. No download available for this episode.

Learning my own audio lessons while shooting video | File Type: text/plain | Duration: 7:23

I am experimenting with a new way to play videos that lets the user turn HD quality off and on. Let me know how it works On a recent trip to the NAB show I had a chance to film some professionally lit TV stages reminded me of the challenges (and the benefits) we face in music recording when trying to get it right at the source.  A virtual day at the NAB Show 2011 in Las Vegas | File Type: text/plain | Duration: 11:37

Sorry to anyone on the mailing lists getting multiple emails. We are fixing that! I had a great time attending my first ever NAB Show in Las Vegas. I got to check out some cool things from Genelec, Soundproof Windows, GoPro and more. The highlight for me was probably an amazing green screen technology from Reflec Media.
