Eagles’ running back LeSean McCoy has proven himself to be one of the NFL’s elite all-purpose backs over the past season and a half. When a player reaches a certain level, analysts, pundits and fans alike all try to label him as the next so-and-so and McCoy has reached that point. There probably won’t ever be another Barry Sanders but of all the players in the league today McCoy’s name seems to come up the most often when trying to make comparisons. Shady’s own coach, Andy Reid, is on record as saying that he has Sanders-like moves. Sanders himself is a McCoy fan. The Lions great appeared on ESPN’s First Take on August 28th and had this to say when asked about who was the one player that has caught his eye. “I like the young McCoy kid from Philly. I think if he continues to do what he has done the last couple of years he could certainly be one that stands out.” The feeling is mutual as Sanders was McCoy’s favorite player growing up. Still, despite all of the comparisons that have been made, the Eagles’ young running back has been keeping things in perspective. “I have a long way to get on his type of level. You're talking about one of the best players, I’ll say best back of all time. I’ve got a lot of room for improvement to be in those type of shoes. I’ve got a long way for improvement to be in Brian Westbrook’s type of shoes so I don't really get wrapped up in who's who and who I'm better than and who I run like. That type of stuff will take care of itself." McCoy was on with Jon Marks and Brian Westbrook earlier today and went into detail about just how much of a LeSean McCoy fan he is. "I like what I see. He's very slippery with great lateral movement. He's a little guy that runs well inside. Obviously when he gets to the corner that's to his advantage. Good speed, good balance...I see a lot of good things in this kid. He doesn't take a lot of punishment and he has pretty good hands. He's a good player and he's fun to watch. There's a lot of things that I like about his game. He's stayed pretty healthy so far and the sky is the limit with this kid."
