Message for 12.22.13 :: Christmas is all about lights. We wrap them around our trees and hang them from our houses. At night our streets light up with color and warmth so that even when it's dark our neibhborhoods are bright. Most of all, Christmas is when we remember the birth of Jesus - a baby who brought the light of hope to the world. It's a day we celebrate, that no matter how dark things may seem, with Christ, all is bright.

Message for 11.10.13 :: For God so loved... He gave. Love and giving often go together with God, and so it is with His followers. We are called to love God and love others, and as we love, we give our time, our gifts and our resources. As we give, people discover the life-saving power of God. Love truly is the greatest gift; it saves us first so that we can be a part of saving others. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Message for 07.28.13 :: Watch the news, or scan the headlines, and pretty soon you'll be fed up with all the injustice in the world. Our hearts rage against the evil and hurt we see. Something in us cries out for evil to be punished and for things to be made right. According to Revelation, that day is coming. One day, every person will stand before God to give an account for their actions. We will either be judged with Christ's goodness or with our own badness. God's grace will save those with faith. His perfect justice will fall on all the evil that remains.

Message for 07.21.13 :: It's easy to shrink God down to a size we can understand. We see Him as a kindly grandfather, a wise sage or maybe as distant, impersonal force. Revelation takes those small images and blows them out the water, unveiling a God with complete power and holiness. Much of our life is defined by what or who receives our praise, attention and respect. Revelation is clear—all heaven and earth declare that God alone is worthy. As our hearts do the same, His worth flows into our lives.

Message for 07.14.13 :: Have you ever looked at the world with all its problems and wondered, "Who's in charge up there?" Sometimes the challenges of life make it seem like God either doesn't care or doesn't have the power to make things right. In the first chapter of Revelation, we see a Jesus who is not only large, but in charge. He isn't powerless to make things right, He is waiting and He is worthy. One day Jesus will return to make things right, in the meantime we can live with great confidence that He has it all under control.

We want to make better choices, but something inside us goes wrong and we lose the same battles over and over. This weekend, we look at what Romans says about living with control. As we depend on God, He leads us to greater peace and control, where our lives make a bigger impact than we thought possible.
