Welcome to the Stripes Series.  For many, stripes on your belt represent time you’ve been training. This time is not enough to jump an entire belt but many believe the effort should be recognized, so you get a stripe. The “Stripe Series” is a series of short interviews and grappling news that will be released between feature length interviews. Our first interview for this series was recorded at the KO Finisher/Hip Hop Chess Federation event in Anaheim on February 16, 2014. It was a huge honor for Paul to interview one of his heroes Alan “Gumby” Marques. Gumby is a founding member of OnTheMat.com, the premiere site for news and gear since the 90s. Gumby has dedicated countless hours to the jiu jitsu community through his journalism, philanthropy, teaching, reffing and competing.
