Interview with Matt Johnson... Lessons learned from those who were involved with Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR®) from the very beginning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Taxonomy upgrade extras: SCToday PodcastVoV In this interview, I talk with Matt Johnson about the earliest days of CPFR®, and in fact we go back to when it first started, and was known as CFAR.  For those that go back far enough, we remember when CPFR®  was the 9 Step model.  In this interview, Matt reveals how it transformed into the "wheel" or "Quadrant" model we know today. From the Interview: More important than that depiction has the realization that CPFR needs to have variance because different companies have different business issues that they’re trying to address through collaboration. I chaired a committee to define a process that we called retail event collaboration which takes promotional events and drives a collaboration based upon promotions certainly with forecasts and historical data there but as more of a validation point or background data. Others, like Fred Bowman of JDA, have worked on different models where you have distributor based collaboration and then more recently we’ve had a model where we’ve had assortment-based merchandise-driven collaboration for the fashion, apparel and specialty retail industries... What’s nice is that CPFR has spawned processes that are more industry specific over time and that can be easily used by different pairs of trading partners as a guide to more effective collaboration. It’s not just a one size fits all anymore.  Steve Brady with Alan Day--State of Flux, Supplier Relationship Management | File Type: application/pdf | Duration: Unknown
Unknown file type. Enclosure URL IS: - http://sctoday.net/files/A%20winning%20position.pdf

Taxonomy upgrade extras: SCToday Podcast In this episode, I talk with Alan Day, the owner and managing director of State of Flux, a company focused on helping companies improve Supply Relationship Management (SRM). We talk about the importance of these relationships, understanding the complexities and nuances in SRM, and some of the ways State of Flux works with businesses. Alan provided an article he has written, sharing with us his view on "A Winning Position." Take the time to download it and read it! In addition, Alan mentioned the survey they are conducting regarding SRM. He writes: Supplier relationship management (SRM) remains a hot topic for organisations, but creating the business case for change in this area is often challenging. We all understand intuitively that SRM is the right thing to do, but it is difficult to put absolute values on the benefits that can be achieved through an SRM improvement programme. State of Flux has launched a survey that looks at how organisations approach SRM and their business cases for change. All organisations that complete the survey will receive a complementary copy of the results and be invited to a cross-organisational workshop on the topic.   Steve Brady, with Ken Lyon and Jean Baptiste Perrin - Bitlogistics and VisibleLogistics.com | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Taxonomy upgrade extras: SCToday Podcast I talk with Ken Lyon, Managing Director of Bit Logistics, and with Jean-Baptiste Perrin, responsible for Support and Marketing at BitLogistics. They share with us their approach to delivering what some call "Software as a Service" (SaaS), or software available "On-Demand". Solutions like this are one facet of the "Cloud Computing" phenomena and they explain that it enables supply chain partners to more readily share appropriate information in a timely way. Their software, VisibleLogistics, is still in beta, but they encourage you to go visit their site http://www.visiblelogistics.com and try out their beta. A quick aside, Dell has on their community site a discussion about cloud computing, and how the Software as a Service approach may be good news in trying financial times. Go read over at: Cloud Computing - Dell Let us know what you think of this podcast. Do you like the idea of supply chain collaboration "in the cloud?"  Using Podcasts in Supply Chain Education | File Type: application/pdf | Duration: Unknown

Taxonomy upgrade extras: SCToday Podcast I presented my paper on Podcasting in Supply Chain Education. The paper received the "Teaching Innovation Award" for best paper in teaching innovations. From the paper: Podcasting” has taken the technological and hobbyist worlds by storm, allowing for the creation of highly specialized audio (and now video) productions for delivery over the internet. This sort of capability has found its way into the classroom and into courseware, allowing professors to deliver a wide range of content to their students. (King, et al., 2006) This paper discusses the background of podcasting, the technology that enabled it, and how podcasting can be used to enhance supply chain courses with a "blended” or hybrid learning experience. In addition to the podcast recording of the presentation, I am including the pdf of the paper, as well as the PowerPoint slides from the presentation. Let me know what you think of it, and as always, leave comments!
