Darrin "Rookie" Sorenson is a former factory mechanic (and Canadian!) for Yamaha and is best known as one of Chad Reed's mechanics back in the day. I also worked side by side with Rookie for a couple of years at Yamaha. Listen in as he tells us how he got his start (and got fired) from Chaparral in 1996, his privateer years, Primal Impulse and working on Huskys among other things.
Just like all you fans we like to bench race on who's moving up, down, sideways or left hanging. Here's what we know or at least think we know.
Roy Turner is a guy that's just about done it all in the motocross industry. Starting out as a factory mechanic in the early 70's, Turner went on to wrench at factory Kawasaki and then a short time later, manage the program for the next fifteen years.
Jason Frenette was a long-time privateer on the scene in the mid to late 90's and this Canadian rider managed to earn three top 100 numbers and make a number of main events along the way. He also might be the funniest human being I've ever encountered as I traveled the country with him for a number of years. In this almost two-hour podcast, Jason and I recount our experiences driving across the country and how him and Shane Drew were responsible for me becoming a mechanic.
Post-race interviews from the motherland including Beaton, Facciotti, Goerke, Allison, Jeremy Medaglia, Kiniry, Klatt, Maier, Tyler Medaglia, The Newf and Tyler Villopoto.
Once again the racing in the MX2 class was edge-of-your-seat awesome and although Dungey demolished the big bike class, there were surprises there too.
