John 14:27 The peace Jesus promises does not come from the power of positive thinking but from trusting Him.
John 8:12-14 The Pharisees wanted to stone Jesus because He claimed equality with God and they rejected His claim. We do the same thing; we either accept or reject Christ. There is no middle ground.
Ecclesiastes 3:4 There may be people in your life who are causing conflict and tension—take it first to God in prayer. Refuse to retaliate and trust God for the outcome.
1 Corinthians 13 God wants us to worship Him from our hearts, and not just at church. God desires our worship each moment of every day.
1 Corinthians 11:1 No matter who you are or how old you are it’s not too late to be a mentor. People need the wisdom, encouragement, and guidance of those who are a little further along in life.
Isaiah 50:10 God’s plan for our lives isn’t always revealed to us, and it rarely makes sense. Our job is to trust and obey.
Psalms 119 An old German version of the Bible calls Psalm 119 “the Christian’s Golden ABC of the praise, love, power, and use of the Word of God.” If we can absorb the lessons from this chapter, we’re off to a good start.
Isaiah 2:6 We become superstitious when we’re unsure about God’s truth. Superstition is bondage. It puts us in chains, enslaves us, and steals our joy. Christ came to set us free from this oppression.
Psalms 119:105 While Martin Luther was teaching Galatians and Romans he came across this revelation: sola feda, sola gracia—by faith alone because of grace alone, in Christ alone there can be forgiveness of sins.
2 Thessalonians 2:6-7 As long as the church of Jesus Christ is present on this earth, lawlessness remains under great restraint. Second Thessalonians 2:7 puts it well, “For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.”
Revelation 2:4-5 The mind is an amazing thing. In a matter of seconds it can transport you to scenes you thought you had forgotten. Remember when your love for the Lord was in full bloom? Remember the passion you felt? Remember your deep devotion?
Acts 2:24 The Passion of Christ refers to His arrest, trial, and suffering from the Garden of Gethsemane to the crucifixion. Some believe Jesus was a lunatic, some believe He is Lord. Who do you say He is?
John 21:1-11 Here’s a great fishing story from Chuck Swindoll that helps us understand Peter’s experience in John 21 a little better.
John 11:25-26 If you want to get beyond the grave you need to trust in the One who Himself has gotten beyond the grave and lives forever.
Romans 5:8 Christ proved His love in that while we were still sinners He died for us. Do you know Christ died for you?
