Musiikkiteollisuuden normien vastaisesti Dingo levytti ensimmäisen albuminsa ennen kuin se esiintyi ensimmäistä kertaa elävän yleisön edessä. Against the norms of the music industry, Dingo actually recorded their first album before they played their first live performance. Somehow, the album sold very well from the very beginning. Their album Nemeni on Dingo reached the number one sport on many hit lists and sold more than another popular band, Pori-Yo, although Dingo was playing in their shadow for the most part. Dingo gained a following of mostly teenaged girls who screamed and cried when they attended concert performances by the band. The lead figure of the band, Pertti Neumann, a tall blond, was idolized by these young fans. Within the circle of rock performers, Neumann was both envied and despised. At the end of 1984, the original bassist left and was replaced by Pepe Laaksonen. This became a new beginning as the fan base expanded from the teenage girls to older, more adult fans. The new song that was released, "Autiotolo," propelled them to new heights as parents of the teenage fan base joined the frenzy. Dingo went from being another rock band to a corporate identity, being featured on magazine covers and TV programs. Seasons of 1985 were known as "Dingo fever" as the band became a phenomenon in the world of rock bands. However, shortly after this, Neumann began making his philosophical positions well known; taking a posture that alienated his younger fans. By connecting with the adult fan base, Dingo made the younger fans move on to bands that more appropriately mirrored their perspective on life. --------------------------- Learn Finnish with FinnishPod101!
