The Helsinki Metropolitan area is actually comprised of four cities—Helsinki, Espoo to the west, Vanataa to the north, and Kauniainen (a region within Espoo). This metropolitan area is home to approximately twenty percent of Finland's population of 5.39 million people. The Suomenlinna Maritime Fortress and Senate Square are other popular destinations.
