The low-lights continue. The fourth (and possibly final) ODI showed some promise for England but in the end Dernbach was too much for them and single handedly ruined it for everyone. Sort of.
Hightlights? Alas, lowlights might be closer as far as England's play goes, as we suffered another crushing defeat at Ranchi. We did have guests galore though, with Warwickshire CC's Laurie Evans and sofa regular Andy Zaltzman. They brought a bit of sunshine where all else was grey, snow and woeful batsmen getting bowled through the gate...
Highlights from the Testmatchsofa.com commentary of the second ODI between India and England.
BONUS Interview with David Rayvern Allen (Biographer of John Arlott) from between innings in the 2nd ODI vs India. 15th Jan 2013
Thank the Lord the Vicar hath saved us. It went right to the wire but in the end India just weren't quite up to scratch, and we were on the tele!
Everyone said it was impossible, but England have done it! For the first time 28 years they have won a Test Series against India.
At tea today we spoke to Hero-of-the-Sofa Peter Baxter. He spoke of England's past success and failures in India, as well as the impending VICTORY!
India started the day very bizarrely, holding off from scoring runs as they approached drawing level with England, who of course weren't keen to hurry them. They eventually declared four runs behind, and let England in to set about slowly working through a draw... setting it up for an interesting day tomorrow. Here are some highlights of day 4 of the fourth test between India and England in Nagpur... let's just say today (very slowly) built to a crescendo!
We went back to our (Joe) Roots today and watched some more gloriously 60's cricket. We had guests galore, and plenty of wickets. Not bad really.
During the Tea break we had three (3!) guests on the Sofa. Dan spoke to David Glover, commissioning editor from Channel 4 (The Plane Crash, Drugs Test Live 8 Inside Nature's Giants), Tom Holland, Historian extraordinaire (Islam: The Untold Story) and Author Si White (The Effing C Word). Enjoy, you lucky lucky things.
............Sorry? What was that? There was cricket today? Wow. Oh yeah, here are the highlights...
And England make it 2-1 in the series! Well done boys!
Another fantastic day's play for England as they inch closer to taking a 2-1 lead in the series. Some resilience from Ashwin 8 the Indian lower order means they'll have to come back tomorrow to finish things off but surely its a formality....
What started as a day of slow, attritional and beautifully tactical cricket from Cook and Trott was brought to life by a few wickets and our very special guest - Olympic gold medalist Peter Wilson!
