Blessed are we to be joined by comedy royalty, John Cleese, real name John Cheese, as we discuss expensive divorces, public affection and beautiful plumage (on a lemur). We don't mention the war. We also catch up with Reginald D. Hunter, star of Dave's One Night Stand for a candid chat about "not washing your butt", which is American for not cleaning your bottom.
This week, under strict duress, former burger van owner Angelos Epithemiou joins us to show us what's in his bag and discuss such vital topics as Betamax vs. VHS. We also catch up with Ardal O'Hanlon to discuss his Dave's One Night Stand show and his claim that he's responsible for anything good that ever came out of Ireland. Plus, we give the Dave verdict on Peter Kay's new stand-up DVD.
All Ben's dreams come true this week as we're joined by the "Attila the pun of word-play", Tim Vine. Puns fly across the studio as Tim and Ben develop their very own one-liner about monorails whilst discussing the thorny issue of Tommy Cooper joke plagiarism. We also catch up with Bonza Australian comic Adam Hills to dispel the myth that Aussies ride around on Kangaroos whilst chucking shrimps on barbies.
Argumental is back for a brand new series on Dave so we thought is was only right and proper to get the new host and team captains on this week's show. So, we convinced Sean Lock, Seann Walsh but NOT Robert Webb to talk to Ben. He refused to talk to us and thus shall never be forgiven. Pin back your ear-holes for some choice clips from the show, some lovely bits of chat and the most painful quiz Sean Lock has ever had to participate in. He HATED Ben's quiz. It's so bad we had to keep it in.
The base station is live - it's time to drive! Colin Murray, host of our brand new show, Driving Wars joins Ben on a bus outside the o2 to discuss comparisons with Robot Wars, failed world record attempts and life on Match of the Day 2. We also squeeze into a room with the wonderful Helen and Olly from the award winning Answer Me This podcast PLUS enter our competition for your chance to win tickets to see Stephen Merchant live.
This week comedy heavyweights Greg Davies and Jason Byrne fight it out for the attention of our Ben as we discuss insulting fathers, giant Yorkshiremen and Jason's dodgy eye. We've also got a preview of Dave's brand new show, Driving Wars and of course we have a little chat about The Inbetweeners. GILBERT!
Someone must have turned up the radiators in the Dave mansion - it's getting hot in here. Chris Addison, slinky stand-up and star of The Thick Of It, denies torrid speculation on the part of Ben Shires that he's the thinking woman's top totty whilst Balls of Steel prankster Olivia Lee talks shaggable co-stars and gives Ben her 'get out of my bed eyes'. Plus a nation mourns as the @Pronger69 Twitter challenge thumps to a climax and the lucky winners are showered in special gifts.
It's an animal themed episode this week as crazy Canadian comic Craig Campbell joins Ben Shires to discuss fox sex and badger killing. Donal takes a trip to Oxford to see if any of the students are better at presenting than young Ben and there's a cheeky preview of our brand new 'Made by Dave' shows. Plus, listen out for details on how you can win an iPad 2 with our Facebook competition.
An outrageous case of flirting breaks out in The Dave Weekly this week as Paul Foot makes presenter Ben jealous by making eyes at another man, discussing his nether regions and cheating in the quiz. And, "because of all the vaginas" our legal team have asked us to say that it "contains adult material". Plus, Donal Coonan puts his jealousy of Ben Shires to one side as he takes the podcast to the commuters to drum up support for the show.
Multi-award winning comedian Russell Kane joins Ben to discuss his new tour, his new DVD and his techniques for creating the illusion of "length". We're also blessed by Dr Buckles himself, Adam Buxton who tells us all about his wonderful beard and equally wonderful show, Bug. And of course there's news on pronger69 and an end of podcast quiz packed with awful puns.
Jo Brand joins Ben to discuss her new Dave show 'Jo Brand's Big Splash', sewers and old bovver boots. We also take a trip down the river to check out the Greenwich Comedy Festival. Plus, Ben starts our new campaign to get his Dad's Twitter feed up to 20 followers. Our lawyers have asked us to say that this "contains adult material". Exciting eh?
This week Ben is joined by Chortle's Student Comedian of the Year, Adam Hess and diminutive and surprisingly hairy stand-up, Tom Webb whose joke was awarded one of the best and worst gags at the Edinburgh fringe. Dave General Manager, Steve North also drops in to tell us all about the forthcoming new series of Argumental.
Ben Shires presents the first ever episode of The Dave Weekly from the Edinburgh Fringe with guests Ray Peacock and Ed Gamble, Dave's Funniest Joke of the Fringe winner, Nick Helm plus Alex Horne, Steve Hall and Rob Deering.
Listen to the trailer of The Dave Weekly. Episode 1 will be available to download from Friday 26th August.
