At their 2017 World Wide Developers Conference, Apple announced six new things. tvOS gets an update and Amazon Prime Video. watchOS 4 includes new faces and functionality. macOS High Sierra will incorporate Apple File System and improvements to Safari, Mail, and Photos. MacBook Pros and iPads get a spec bump, and iMacs can now handle VR with the HTC Vive. The iMac Pro, coming later this year, might fill the MacPro-sized hole in power users' hearts. iOS 11 will include a slew of new features and improvements, most notably machine learning and augmented reality. At their Microsoft EDU even, Microsoft announced the new 13.5" Surface Laptop running the new Windows 10 S operating system. The company also made several announcements geared toward the Education market, including Office 365 for Education, View Mixed Reality, and Code Builder for Minecraft: Education Edition. On the first day of Facebook's F8 Developer Conference, Mark Zuckerberg announced Facebook's shift to augmented reality. Facebook's camera will be capable of recognizing people and objects and add Snapchat-like effects to the world. Facebook is hoping developers will help them take augmented reality to the next level, both using Facebook Camera Effects and the Oculus Rift. Facebook also announced a new social virtual reality app, Facebook Spaces, which will allow users to interact with each other in VR using cartoon avatars. Other announcements included an expanded focus on Messenger chat bots, QR code-like parametric codes, and Messenger Platform 2.0. The latter will add AI, games, music, and more to Messenger. Samsung announces the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The new 5.8" and 6.2" phones feature Samsung's new Infinity Display, 10mn octa-core processors, and dual pixel 12-megapixel rear-facing and 8-megapixel front-facing cameras, both with f/1.7 aperture. Microsoft announced a surprisingly creator-focused line of new products at their event today. On the hardware side, the new Surface Studio is an all-in-one PC focused on content creation. It folds down into an easel and features the thinnest touch monitor available. It can be paired with the Surface Pen and new Surface Dial. They also announced new versions of the Surface Book and Surface Pro, as well as a new Microsoft VR headset. On the software side, Microsoft focused on 3D creation with its new version of Microsoft Paint, Windows Capture 3D, and 3D-focused additions to Office software like PowerPoint.
