Welcome to This Week In Women's Soccer, hosted by Jeff Kassouf(SI.com, EqualizerSoccer.com). On today's show Jeff welcomes Jonathan Tannenwald(Philly.com) on the show to discuss WPS' decision to permanently suspend operations and the future of Women's Soccer in the United States. Jeff also reviews results from WPSL Elite and W League.

The reason we ask most of our guests to come on is because we think they'll be good. Occasionally, they exceed our high expectations. And then others just kinda blow us away. Brad Evans falls into that last category. Maybe it won't come off as good to you as it did to us, but we absolutely had a great time hanging out with Brad (is it cool if we call him that?). He gave us some quality insight into the Seattle Sounders' 2-2 tie with the Vancouver Whitecaps, we kinda talked about upcoming games against the Columbus Crew and Chivas USA (but only passingly) and filled a lot time talking about whatever the heck we felt like talking about. We touched on food trucks, Seattle living, dog ownership, Dick's Drive-In ... pretty much all the really pressing issues of our time. Regarding Houston, mao and Kelly talk about the effectiveness of the offensive plan, despite another game without a goal, and the compact, strong defensive play from the back line. Looking forward, the show discusses John Spencer's plans in central midfield, who will play in Futty's absence and the need for goals to finally get the Timbers out of the month-long rut.

In a special Episode 21 of The Mexican Soccer Show, Tom, Eric and Jonny digest and dissect Thursday´s first leg of the Clausura 2012 final between Monterrey and Santos Laguna. All went smoothly for Santos until the last minute, when Humberto Suazo made the score 1-1 from the penalty. There was a golazo from Oribe Peralta, dubious refereeing decisions and a superb performance from Santos ´keeper Oswaldo Sanchez. Who takes the advantage into the second leg? What kind of a game should we expect? All that and more in a special 20 minute episode.

In the first Special Edition episode of the Yanks Abroad Podcast, Christopher McCollum gathers together YA writers Brian Sciaretta and John Kretlow and YA stat manager Jamie Hill for a short-notice show to analyze Jurgen Klinsmann’s roster announcement. The roster, which was announced earlier in the day, was an immediate hot topic issue as several key players were left off, and Timmy Chandler announced that he wanted to take a break from international soccer. The guys talk about this issue at length, discussing the possibility of Chandler posturing for a switch to Germany, to merely being uninterested in international play. The talk then moves to European and Mexico-based players who were seemingly inexplicably left off, until taking into consideration that several still have one more game left in their season and, and only two of the players called up played last week. Brian discusses the possibility that Klinsmann wanted to give the other players a few extra days off to recover from the gruelling season. An analysis of the U.S. National Team defense and midfield pool takes place while debating the merits of Alfredo Morales and Jose Torres, which then turns into a theoretical question and answer session about Michael Parkhurst and Michael Orozco. How exactly it got to that point is a mystery, but it made sense once Brian revealed where he was going with it. The show is concluded with a question and answer session with listeners, discussing Eric Lichaj, Gregg Berhalter, Morales, Chandler and other topics.

As we approach the very first Cascadia Rivalry match of the 2012 season, things are just beginning to heat up, quite literally. Dropping points to New York and MTL, the Galaxy will need all 3 pts from this game before they approach a short week and a game against San Jose.
